I plan to put up pics, benchmark at least the top 10 games out now, and post up reviews of the webcam quality, speakers, build, etc. I'm not much into unboxing video's but I plan to do a very good thorough review and I have a temp gun so I'm going to temp the exhaust air even on idle and under load and I use my current laptop on the side of my chair with a coolboard so I plan to use something similar for the m18x as well so I'll try to post reviews of those as well.

I'm upgrading aftermarket the HD to a corsair 128gb M4 SSD and 16GB of 1600 Kingston Memory. They will be here Tuesday. Going to bench before and after the upgrade as well so that might help others.

I assume this will take me most of the week to put something together that will justify a good review but hopefully being so thorough will help others get off the fence.
That will be a very nice contribution. Lol on the unboxing. I plan on doing some vids.. but I would feel like a complete idiot doing that. Im more of a spec and information type of guy. not gonna post my over joyed mug on the internet unboxing my rig. Not to mention.. I dont think Ill be able pay much attention at first.

Lol, I start this wonderful thread, with some great info ... and I still ain't got no rep ...

Meh I am very interested in whatever is coming in June, mad props to those that have jumped on the mothership and will give us our first looks, always need someone to blaze the path.

I figure that either way waiting til June makes sense at this point, either a better (although not yet 6970 worthy) Nvidia option, or a possible better 6990 ? whatever the xtx is.

If Nvidia comes down in price, that would be very interesting, if not, then if there is a better raddeon card coming in at a cheap price as well, then its still a win.

I'm in the same boat as you. The Macbook and M17 R3 screen are pretty gorgeous to me. Sounds like we have some screens snobs :P I guess I would understand had I used one, but I used the U2311 IPS displays at home and those are pretty darn nice but they dont make me lose my mind if I'm not looking at one on a laptop.

Back in the day before I had an HD tv, I played my 360 at 480p and didn't really care, because I hadn't experienced HD before.

Now, I could never go back to that. It's very similar for laptop screens.

    No sir you are wrong.

A single GTX485m does hold a measurable but small lead over the 6970M, however as crossfire currently scales better than SLI this lead gets removed and the only difference between the cards becomes which games prefer SLI or crossfire.

ATI cards are no more of a headache than Nvidia cards. Ask M17x R1 owners what they think about Nvidia and headaches. Stop spreading lies from 10 years ago. It's been several generations since you could say that ATI drivers were a bigger headache to deal with.

I think it all comes down to driver support and it seems that people just feel more comfortable with choosing the cards that have a better chance of being supported down the road.

Id imagine the 580 would trickle down to the r3? Is it (560) only an overclocked 560 or any other changes? They did introduce the 6970 after about 2 months on the r3? Owners were peeved at that with the 460.

An rgb would be sweet but sucks they don't have 1200p available. I wish they would just make a screen like 2560x1600 or something and have it set at 1080/1200p max. At least everything would be sharper. Noone complains about the iphone 4 and its resolution. Nothing peeves me more than how windows 7 icons look so fugly and blocky. They should learn something from
    apple.

I must admit though 1080p screens make a laptop look better. A little shorter and wider looks better than big and square. That's just me.

485m uses the latest core, so a 580m can only be an OCed one, but its already at the 100W limit.
