Re: M18x Memory Discussion Thread
The only other option would be to buy the 1800 stuff, down clock it too 1600mhz and then push for as tight timing as poss. Anyone on here tried that with 204-pin, if so what have lowest they've managed to get cas wise?

Intel is not always spot on. Sager owners report that it in fact works at 1600 MHz. I have yet to see it with my own eyes though. Anyway, since I'm gonna upgrade the CPU down the road, might as well grab HyperX now.

Re: M18x Memory Discussion Thread
Has anyone tried OC'ing the 1600MHz RAM to 1866?

Re: M18x Memory Discussion Thread
Does the M18x bios allow for timing adjustments? I would love to test my HyperX 1600 at 8-8-8-24 or 7-7-7-21

Re: M18x Memory Discussion Thread
Sorry for the dummiest question but... are those Kingston HyperX (1600 and 1866) PnP double chanel or triple chanel?
and... why the 1886 has CL11 and the 1600 CL9?
There is a so big variety that's like mandarin for me...

Re: M18x Memory Discussion Thread
They're dual channel. Triple channel memory only works on the X58 chipset with the original core i7 desktop chips as far as I know.
As for the timings, they tend to be more 'loose' as the speed increases. Price/performance wise, the 1600 would be a nice happy medium. Higher timings mean larger latency, but the performance differences are generally negligible.M17xR3 Space Black: i7 2920XM | 2GB 6990m | 265GB Samsung PM810 SSD | 8GB Kingston HyperX DDR3-1600
