Hey, Speedy. Do you have The Witcher 2 (on ultra, no ubersampling) and Crysis 2 Ultra DX11 (bench tool here) at your disposal?
Should be exposed in a bit...

For those of you that have a 2630qm and 6970CFx configuration, here's my best 3DMark11 score. I spent about 5 hours tweaking, testing and searching for optimal settings for my best benchmark result.

    Here's my setup and settings:
    - 2630qm @ 105.5 bclk (seems the sweet spot for me)
    - 6970CFx @ 846/1250 (pretty nice if you ask me)
    - 8GB stock DDR3 1333MHz
    - Driver version 11.6
    - 3D settings in Catalyst all turned off

    3DMark11 result: P7491

For my setup this seems a very good result, I wonder if anyone has done better with a similar setup.
I'm still trying to break the 7500 points.

Anyway, it seems that as it is now, raising the cpu clocks doesn't do much, graphic cards seem to be the bottleneck as raising those clocks yields a lot more gain in the scores. Why oh why can't we raise voltage on these :/
    Anyone wanna attempt a voltmod?

Btw, can anyone tell me if the 11.8 drivers give better bench results compared to 11.6? Just wanna know if i should update or not...

    Great score. I can't even break 6,500 with 6990's.

I tired this too, but it's still not working, after disabling avast, redownloading from futuremark (or a mirror) reinstalling completely and still getting the same error.

I ran 3D Mark Vantage at stocks.

    Config is
    2920xm factory OC
240 gb vertex 3 max iops (all problems fixed, works like a dream, not a single problem)
    8gb hyperX PnP 1600
    580m SLI

Generic VGA video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-2920XM Processor,Alienware M18xR1 score: P24018 3DMarks

Just raised the OC to level 3, and am wondering if there's anything else I should know. I saw that video and for me the long duration pwr was like 78 and the time window was like 24 or something, is that normal?

Finally, about to try OCing the gpu's but I'm not sure what a safe starting point would be, nor how I would know if I went too high. Is it just a "try until the bench program doesn't crash" thing?

And what program should I use for 580m SLI?

Pretty much right for the GPU OC! install the latest version of MSI Afterburner, raise the clocks for core first by 15Mhz and run 3dmark11 (graphics only bench), +15 on the core run test again and so on, until it freezes/crashes. Go back 15-20Mhz from the last result and start the same for the memory. I say 750/1700 is a good start (no harm), the best i've seen so far was 835/2000 (with overvoltage)!!! so don't worry... keep an eye on the temps. 85C is normal, higher than 90C is a limit!

Thank you Mr Fox for taking the time to help a bench mark noob like myself.

I got this lappy for work to read memos and send jokes to fellow workers..
I think it should work out OK for me..... LOL... OK, I game a little now and then also.

What I have here is a straight out of the box m18x with stock dell drivers.
Set the CPU OC in the bios to level 3
    Overclocked the GPU's to:
    Core Clock 850
    Memory Clock 1150
    GPU Voltage 1100

It has not locked up or missed a beat so I'm thinking she still has a little more to give...... but I will leave that to the extreme OC professionals.

So who is going to be the first to 30k?

    AMD Radeon HD 6970M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-2920XM Processor,Alienware M18xR1 score: P26753 3DMarks

And an Overall Average of 150 fps on Crysis?
