Re: *OFFICIAL* Alienware M18x Benchmark Thread
we are. max watts is about 90/1.3511V. but for 300 bucks, that's pretty damn good!
yep. and it's probably about to leave again..
this is 45x -120/120 - 130amps - 120W.
as you can see...it's no where near 120/110 or 100 watts...
best time i have pulled of in wprime 32 is 5.256.

he doesn't need a dice pot...

Re: *OFFICIAL* Alienware M18x Benchmark Thread
Thanks for taking the time to do that test... I see what's going I'm sorry it seems limited... seems to not make sense though. Perhaps its how the system or bios is reading the chip? Could a bios mod trick system into thinking it was Oem stepping and id etc. ? Just a thought. Yes a dice pot isn't necessary to cream all of us with dice...

Re: *OFFICIAL* Alienware M18x Benchmark Thread
You know what I mean. Would be one killer chip having 3mb L3 per core.

@Johnkss I see the log and only other thing I can think of is your using lowest available voltage and my 32m run @ 151watts used much higher than 0flex could the flex paired with those same amp and watt settings allow over 80watts?
Could be when at 1.3511 4.5ghz will never use over 80 watts but at 1.4v maybe a higher wattage? So what if you set 46x or 47x and use a higher flex. You dont have to test again but if you feel like entertaining the idea its a thought... I was probably 20-25flex on that run since lower would bsod since it wasn't enough voltage for those 4.8 to 4.9ghz quadcore speeds. Up until I started trying high flex, high quad core speeds, high tdp and high tdc I didn't see over 118watts in my logs. Also if you have more data checked you will see more readings in the log from your run so instead of 4-5 during the run you would see like 20 from the run and know more precisely its peak wattage. Lol don't bash me if this suggestion is no good... Just hoping to see you guys over 80 watts. Speedy needs to get in on this. Speedy pm'd me earlier and said his ES can't go over 43x but can go as high as 100watts... why are these chips handling so different from one another?Last edited by residualvoltage; 9th September 2011 at 02:34 PM.

Re: *OFFICIAL* Alienware M18x Benchmark Thread
tried that. if you give to much flex, it will down clock the max multiplier.

Re: *OFFICIAL* Alienware M18x Benchmark Thread
The Core 2 chips had massive L2 per core in order to boost their performance vs the AMD chips out at the time. It worked

L3 in addition to L2 makes the need for all that space less of a concern. Additionally, there is alot more memory bandwidth than there was during the Core 2 days making cache hits less of a penalty in performance. Cache takes up the majority of the space in CPUs (IGPs excluded) and results in alot of the power and $$ cost.Alienware M14x R2: Intel Core i7 3610qm | 8GB (2x4GB) Kingston HyperX DDR3-1866 Ram | Nvidia GT 650m 2GB GDDR5 | Intel 320 160GB SSD | Killer Wifi 1202 | Slot Load Blu-Ray Player | 900p Screen
