I updated my first message to keep a running list of the bags/sleeves people are testing. If you bought or are trying one, feel free to just post here and I can update my 1st message. Any corrections, please just post it here and I can update.

I'm looking for a good sleeve myself and thanks for everyone's suggestions.

Ordered the Alienware 18" messenger bag from Dell. Should be here Monday. Will post my thought on it.

Yeah, I've noticed a lot of backpacks are pretty big, but the laptop compartment is small. One reason for a better sleeve so you can have a larger pool of backpack choices.

I'd have to really question that "tsa compliant" description on the Alienware Orion bag. Tsa specifically demands that you remove your laptop from your bag, and stick it in the grey plastic bins. NEVER heard them make the announcement that anyone that has a tsa compliant Alienware bag, is exempt. Anyone that travels much, and owns at least an m17x, will tell you that it BARELY fits into the bins. The m18x, I'd gather, will not.

Either way, I cannot imagine the tsa nazi's allowing you to leave your laptop in your "tsa compliant" bag. They'll more than likely, after you tell them all about your brand new tsa compliant bag, tell you to remove the laptop from your tsa compliant bag.

Just my experience with these guys.

The backpack butterflies open showing the laptop in a compartment by itself. Thus the tsa compliance.

    From the TSA website:
TSA: TSA Ready for 'Checkpoint Friendly' Laptop Bags

From experience, you are still asked a lot to take it out of the bag so YMMV if you can keep it in the bag. I think as time goes on, I'd assume they will be more ok with these backpacks/bags.
