Default ATI Radeon 5870 crossfire issue

    Hi,
I recently bought a brand new slave 5870 to run in crossfire with my primary 5870, but when I install it and turn on my laptop all I get is a black screen, no audio and my computer is frozen ie I have to remove battery to turn off. I have the proper fan, heatsink and crossfire cable for the M17 R2. I have checked the new card in the primary slot and it works fine on it's own. can any1 help PLZ

have you tried the new slave card in the primary slot? Might have the wrong vbios on it. Or just download the latest vbios from dell for the 5870m's and reflash the cards

As Brooks93 sugested, are both cards with the same V-bios version?

All I can think of is somehow there is a firmware mismatch. Download GPUZ, screenshot each report with each card when they are installed and running. Perhaps we can understand something then.

Otherwise, maybe the slave MXM slot has received damage of some sort...
