M17x noise issue.
After installing Diablo 3 and just having it sit on the log in screen, my 2 week old Alienware m17x R4 is ramping the fan very loudly to a point where i believe it's not normal for it to be doing. I also noticed that the right fan is louder and even while playing games that don't require much power to play i hear the noise ramping up very loudly.

Re: M17x noise issue.
The fans wont spin faster then they are capable of, so dont worry about that.
As for the fans spinning up, perhaps D3 is using a lot of the CPU and GPU, even in the menu. Thus increasing temps.
I would run a hardware monitoring application (eg hwinfo32) and see what your system is doing temp wise.
Monitor it in game as well, and if the temps are ridiculously high then a re-paste may be in order.
If not, then the fans are doing what they are meant to do
I have an R2, and when those puppies are at full spin it is noticably loud. I have had people comment on how loud it gets
Headphones or a loud sound system are the answer

Re: M17x noise issue.
Can you confirm what you consider ridiculously high? I'm getting a max of 70C on my 3820qm after a good half hour of Battlefield 3, dipping into high 60's, stays around here usually. GPU is around 60 at the absolute max on Battlefield 3.
I'm using a notebook cooler (HD3 Gaming Chill Mat) with only 1 out of the 2 USB's being utilized, and fan speed at max for the cooler.[ M17X R4 - Intel Core i7-3820QM @ 2.7GHz (Turbo @ 3.7GHz) | 16GB DDR3 @ 1600MHz | 2GB Radeon 7970M |

Those temps are fine. Great in fact
I would say ridiculously high being in the 90-100 rangeBlack Alienware M17x-R2 -- A10 Modded BIOS -- i7-920xm overclocked -- 8GB RAM -- 120GB OCZ Vertex 2 SSD + 500GB HDD + 500GB HDD (Slot Caddy Mod)-- 2 x 6990m ES Xfire
