Battery plugged in but not charing. M17x R3
So i've had my M17x R3 for just over a year now (ordered it upon release date). Haven't run into any major issues yet until this started happening yesterday.
Suddenly my laptop died and i realized that the AC adapter had come unplugged. I then realized upon plugging it back in that the laptop will run while plugged in but when i hover over the battery icon it says "0% available (plugged in, not charging)" and as soon as it comes unplugged the laptop will obviously die.
Someone suggested i go to device manager, expand on batteries and right click the the device and uninstall it, right click, scan for hardware changes. and yes that device came back, but didn't solve the problem.
furthermore, upon turning the laptop on it will tell me that it does not recognize the AC adapter and to plug in a 150watt AC one (which this one is).
At first i thought this may be caused by a virus as i had just recently been tricked into downloading some sort of babylon software that wouldn't go away but now i've gotten rid of that and it persists. Is this a hardware problem? how do i fix this?M17x R3. Loving it.

Remove battery, remove the CMOS battery, hold down the power button for about 10 sec. Put everything back together and turn on the laptop. See what happens.
Worst case you need a new charger.Laptopless again.

Would it for sure be a faulty charger and not the battery?

It can be:
- the ID chip in the charger
- the ID wire
- a problem with the motherboard or power port
- incorrect CMOS values
