this will be awesome competition between ATI and Nvidia.
    yes it will

Since i can get over 4K on 3dmark11 with tessellation and 4500-4600 3dmark11's without tessellation, i assume that this card will easily do 5K+ 3dmarks

plus there should be lots of overclocking headroom.

    I'm psyched

At worse, this card will be 15-20% over current gen...at best 30-35%. Its a win/win AND at 65w tdp, it will run cold

I have been meaning to write an upgrade guide. I just haven't had the time. I'll try to get around to it soon though.

I will give you guys all the details when i get them and i will stick up a guide

Joe, you will be able to install the 7970m into any R3, this may actually force dell to update the AMD drivers to include the 7970m OR we can just modify the inf file(s) with the 7970m device id...but i volunteer to be the guinea pig

EDIT: BigT if you want to do the guide, go for it, but i'll be taking high rez pics with my dslr camera as i install mine so if you want we can use those

Awesome, would love to see actual performance and how they run, more so first hand.

If you have a lead or know where you plan on getting your card... maybe you could organize a group buy if there were 10 or so buyers

Haven't seen group buys on these computer forums but I have been a part of several on automotive forums.

    Great idea.

I notice on the UK site they have dropped the "r3" tag from the m17x range. Its just simply the m17x and is considerably cheaper then when i purchased mine. By about £400.
