Any SSD that is running SATAIII speeds will score 7.9.

little washu, can you please check if your battery fits 100% or if its slightly "off" (like in the R3) ?
Are you talking about the issue where the battery was a bit loose in the R3? Mine never had that issue, nor does my R4.

Sorry I haven't been able to post temps or anything, been super busy with finals coming up.

Judging by the manual, it uses the same chassis as the M17x R3 so i doubt there's any major improvements. Not that there was anything wrong with the previous release.

A quick question. Are the drive bays in the R4 both SATAIII?
If not, in which bay should I place a SSD?

I don't know the answer to the first question, but to the second question you should put it in "port 1". I just read a thread about a guy who put his SSD in port 0 and was getting slow speeds and then put it in port 1 and was getting well over 400 MB/s write speeds.

According to Dell, it looks that both are SATA III.

Thanks! Do you still know where you read this? I would like to read it, probably it contains useful information for me.

I asked Dell but their answer wasn't really thorough. They answered I can find it on the drive bay itself.
The person I spoke said that there is likely only one SATA III drive bay, but he didn't know which bay...

I called tech support requesting a motherboard swap to the R4 motherboard to resolve the SATA III issue with R3s. After speaking to some "techs", he responded that the motherboard for a R4 can not be placed into a R3 due to incompatibilities of the chassis. He recommended purchasing a new laptop... Not quite the answer I was looking for but not unexpected...
