    Default AlienFX failure :(

    Long story short.

I have unplugged my new m17x r3 to bring it at friend's home for a show off. I turned it on there, on battery, and the Alienware Logo on the LCD stopped working. It's always black now.

I brought the computer back at home, put it on cable again and the logo started to work again.

Then I unplugged the computer to move it on my desk, closed the lid, opened the lid again and now the logo is black. And there's nothing I can do to turn it on...

I heard this alien FX could be buggy, but I cannot believe to have the issue on a October 2011 machine :////

Do you think it could be because the light is set to turn off when on battery? Go into the control centre, click on the Alienhead, when you mouse over the wheel, options for On and Battery should come up. Choose another colour and see what happens.

It stays black like the night :/ (only the alienware logo, of course)

Guess I am gonna keep it like this, i do not want to send it back for warranty, I need the computer for daily use

I just got my m17x r3 a few weeks ago, and the Alienware logo and Alien head on the lid cover only works if i partially close the lid about 45 degrees...I called Dell and tomorrow they are coming to replace the display, they said something isn't connecting in the display....I believe thats the only way to fix it, is get a replacement lid...They also told me they will replace the motherboard, but i find that odd since no other lights are affected but the lid area, so iam going to have them do the display first. I hear they can really mess up the mobo if they don't know what they are doing. I would call them, at least they come to you and fix it.

Also, look to see when you start to close the Lid if the logo lights up.

doesn't hurt to call...your situation could be entirely different then mine then since mine will light, only with the lid partially closed. Someone else recommended to unplug everything and take the battery out. Someone said it worked for them, but not me :-( Doesn't hurt to try everything.

    MAH, I have no idea....

I left the notebok unplugged from the power cord all the night, I turn it on today and AlienFX is fully operational again...what the hell...Are there devils in my pc? :///

I am doing now a very stressfull test (running winamp with alienFX plugin, to trigger the lights with beats, and it works perfectly)...for who does not know what I am talking about, I ad doing this

I live in Italy and I can confirm Dell will send a tech to your home.
Usually they'll call you back later in the day or the day after to set up a date.
