Re: [GUIDE] Swapping Stock M17x-R3 LCD w/ 90% NTSC Color Gamut "B+RGLED" LCD
Dear Villosa,
I entered today in the club of M17XR3 owners. What can I say, a great machine with a damn problem, the 900p standard screen. I do not like it at all, even if I knew it was not a good screen.
The problem is that I could not make a choiche on it. My laptop comes from a Dell Outlet with a price of 1.2k. I got an high spec config that would regularly cost 1.7k on the dell website and, guess what, it is not a random refurbished machine. It is just new, new new, and I saved more than 500 Eur.
The plan was to upgrade the screen to the 1080p after, and I am wondering if you can give me an hand...need a guide to disassembly the screen, and a place where I can buy the LCD non 3D or 3D.

If he has an NVidia card, I would recommend this instead. It's quite a bit cheaper.
I am still looking for a place to find the full HD 60hz screen for my M17x in case this project ends up not working very well.M17x R3: 2630QM; 6990M; 1080p AUO; 8GB DDR3 1600mhz; 750GB Samsung;
3DMark06--19,601, 3DMark Vantage--P15913, 3DMark11--P4029
Sold: My beloved G73.
Upgrade the screen on your G73. Automatically overclock with setfsb. Flash your Nvidia graphics card bios.

mah baby is powered by AMD Radeon, I thought the GFX card would not be mandatory in deciding what screen to get!

Did a little digging and found the post by Malibal.
My god...it's beautiful... B173HW01 V5 upgrade
"V.4 is a 90% NTSC Color Gamut Glossy Display
V.5 is a 72% NTSC Color Gamut Matte Display"
The V4 is still superior to the V5 due to color reproduction and intensity.
V5 will read as AUO159D
V4 will read as AUO149D

Haven't been keeping up with the 3D stuff but that might be why. The screen you linked to is 3D and I'm almost certain 3D is only available with Dell NVIDIA GPUs at the moment.

Re: [GUIDE] Swapping Stock M17x-R3 LCD w/ 90% NTSC Color Gamut "B+RGLED" LCD
Technically, this screen is equipped with a 3d receiver that works only with nvidia graphic cards.
It means that you can use it with ATI cards, but you cannot plug in the 3d receiver.
Basically I have to pay for a component (the 3d receiver - 10$) and a cable (the connector cable - 8$) that won't be plugged in.
