    Default SIGH, SD Card stuck in dvd drive

    Hey all,

    Well now I know not to put an sd card in the laptop in a dark room, it went straight into the dvd drive slot on my m17x.

    EDIT:

    Managed to shake it out of there, lucky it didn't get caught on anything..

    Stuck it in the wrong hole I see...

    good thing you got it out without much hassle though

    My wife did this with her laptop. I just used a bent paperclip to scoop the card out of the drive.

    If you do try this, use a plastic-covered paperclip and not a plain metal one. The last thing you want to do is to scratch the pick-up head of the laser!

    It happened exactly the same thing to me a few days ago.
    Only, I think it's really stuck in there.
    First I heard the sd move, I tried the bent paperclip and then I heard nothing.
    I'm gonna try again tomorrow, hoping the tape works for me too.
    But I'm not really hopefull :-s
    In the worst case scenario, I hope Alienware/Dell doesn't ask too much for the solution.

    I've done this before too. Before you get to creative trying to get it out and risk ruining something, remember that you can just tear the DVD drive out, and open it up to recover the SD card. Dell doesn't have to have anything to do with this. There are many tear-down videos on YouTube.

    lol same thing happened to me as well but i used a toothpick to get the sd card out ^.^!
