It looks like it's a bit thinner (I don't see the rear vents on the side anymore) and no express card slot. I wouldn't say the design is better either, just different. It still looks to be a 16:10 design from the photos. I wonder what changes they made to the cooling?

why would Dell stick with 16:10 ratio if all the manufacturers are pointing different route ? just wonder

also they should remove the glass from the screen or at least give the buyer the option to pick a matte screen for the rest i thing it looks ok pretty much like the last model

    Couple reasons:

    1. 16:10 is the only one that has the rgb led option as of right now.
    2. 16:10 gives you more screen real estate than 16:9

That's assuming this new system is still 16:10 which it looks to be. The cooling looks like it got an overhaul as well, that's what I'm most curious about. I'd be curious to see if they went the vapor heatpipe route. And yeah, they should give the option of not having the E2E portion.

Edit: Looking over the pictures again, the screen doesn't seem to have much of a red shift to it. Maybe it's no longer 16:10/rgb led? So many questions..

If that’s the case then I wouldn’t touch it with a 10ft pole. That is the reason I got rid of the m11x!

It's fitting that the one thing I was hoping for is omitted from being revealed by these pictures (a place to grip the screen while opening it, as seen in the m11x and m15x). there's always fingerprints where my webcam is because of this >_<

also, I'm not feeling the look of the touchpanel, though they do look more spaced out, which would help with the accuracy of the touch.

as far as the touchpad and that whole panel is concerned... i wonder if it could be added to our current m17x r1 and 2's... a better, bigger touchpad and cooler looking speaker grills couldn't hurt!

A bit blind, aren't we? It's clear that these are 3 different laptops configurations.

    1st one:
Probably a single GTX 460m + Nvidia Optimus
    i7-2630qm
    4GB RAM
    15940 3Dmarks

    2nd one:
Probably a single Radeon HD 6970m
    i7-2720qm
    4GB RAM
    20155 3Dmarks

    3rd one:
    Single GTX 460m
    i7-2820qm
    4GB RAM
    16957 3Dmarks
