I will have to chime in and say that RGB LED is really the way to go. I had it on my 16" XPS 16 (Yes I got it before they scaled back to 15.6") and everything from gaming to BluRays looked phenomenal. It was the best looking laptop screen I've ever had the privilege of owning/using. Now that I've thread-crapped twice in this thread, I'll quietly exit stage left.

I hate the move toward curvy. I despise curvy in laptops, even in cars the new shift is toward sharp edges. Even though its still just a prototype it looks cheaper and more gimmicky then the serious and menacing M17xR2. I'm still glad I waited on SB, that kind of power seems like more then enough to last 2 years for serious gaming or anything else I could possibly do with it.

I agree with your sentiments but honestly, a 920xm with crossfire 5870s is more than future proof enough. Most games are built for consoles these days so all we get are poorly ported console games. MS and Sony probably won't refresh their consoles for another 3 years so any of these systems will be overkill. Anyway, if the R3 has no RGB LED and coupled with it's ugly looks, I'll stick to my R2 for a long time.

No disagreements there. In fact anyone with even an R1 is sitting good for a long time.

My perspective is coming from laptops where the best I've had is the CPU in my sig below (had only a t9800 in my M17) . SB will be a huge upgrade for me.

All future R3 owners should start getting their donations ready for Kevin (Throttlestop dev) so he can code TDP/TDC unlocks for SB. If not, then don't count on SB being faster than 920/940xm.

I don't like the curves on the R3 as well but meh it's so minor I'm not going to lose sleep over it. Going to have to see what the pricing is before I pass my R2 to the nephews.

Safe to say: CES 2011, alongside SB.
