At this time I am removing the thread from sticky status. The thread shall remain open of course. Post#1 was updated with links to BIOS A03, the BIOS A03 discussion thread and also a link to the beta NV display driver.

Concerning the latency being reported on ATI based R1's, Bill-B has posted it is being looked at.

For those of you who are still having issues, I encourage you to continue to post. If you are having a problem, and are ATI based, start a thread with specifics and we'll take it from there. Keep in mind that from member reports, several performance related issues appear to be driver related. We have a thread in place for owners who have moved over to the ATI GPUs on the R1. That thread can be found here:

Problems and Questions when moving from NVIDIA to ATI GPUs - M17x R1

Thanks again to Bill-B, John-B and all of the folks over @ Dell!
Glad I could help. Can we keep this thread live for just a few more days, please? AW engineers promised me a couple of updates related to DPC work they're doing, and my preference is to drop them in this thread. Specifically, I'm waiting on news on the OSD button issue, and a new storage driver from nVidia that we have in test. The OSD thing looks like it will be a new BIOS release, and the storage driver could go live any day now, from what I understand. I'll ask John to jump out on the ATI thread when he has a chance, and I'll crawl back in my cube and get back to my listening engine process development after I get the final news on the 2 issues I'm waiting for.

OH sheesh. I got "stickied" and "closed" mixed up in my over-taxed brain. As long as it's open, I can get my updates in. Sorry about that. Do as you see fit. My bad.

just want to reiterate that the beta drivers fixed my downclocking DPC spikes but introduced new upclocking spikes that still cause stutter, see my post here. Keeping my fingers crossed and waiting for the official drivers from NVidia, hoping they'll fix my upclocking issues.

Is this new BIOS going to have CPU voltage core control for the M17x R1? I don't even understand why it was never added. The C2D/C2Q run cooler than i7 with a slightly lower max thermal temp and TDP. The M17x also could of broke records with Vcore control. Ugh.

Can you refresh me as to what the problems are? Is it strictly Win7?

Regarding Metro 2033 - you have to dial the settings down. 'Very high' in that game needs much more power than our computers have for smooth gameplay.

Please move the game discussion to an appropriate thread - Side Topics.

For issues with ATI driver install/config on the R1, post here:

Well, now I have a new issue. I have not seen this one before. I typically use the laptop with the AC adapter. I just needed to check my email, so I turned the laptop on without the adapter. It gave me a BIOS message stating that I would be switched to the integrated adapter. That's fine I think... Firstly, my battery died almost completely within about 5 minutes. (It showed 100% when I first booted up). I plugged in the AC and did what I needed to do. I got some warning that popped up when I plugged in the AC about needing to reboot and I ignored it because I was almost done with what I needed to do. I restarted when I was done and the computer seems to be confused between Stealth mode and normal mode. It took many hits of the Stealth mode button to get the battery to start charging. My issue now is that my discrete cards are no longer being seen by the OS. Even if I disable hybrid and the integrated, the m260's aren't seen at all. I have no idea what to do at this point because I don't know what messed things up. Any ideas? I am on Vista using the beta driver... Everything was working fine until I booted up without the AC installed.

Been working for about 30 minutes... I have my 260's seen by the OS and currently active, but the power button LED's think I am still in Stealth mode. Also, my performance is indicative of Stealth mode rather than "Boost" and "High Performance" being enabled. I really love how when you push the Stealth mode button, the dialog box is the same regardless of what mode you are currently in. How are we supposed to know? Is there a way of turning Stealth mode completely off? I would rather set up my own power plan if I run off battery power. I know how to enable the 9400, I don't need the bios telling me I need to do it. So darn frustrating.
