Re: M17x Stutter
dropping the OC on the CPU should absolutely help things out as at stock it uses 1.1275V and when overclocked it gets bumped to 1.1675V (means more power being drawn). Same thing for the GPUs if overvolted - I have proven that overvolting them DOES equate to higher power draw
Also yes, I found a long time ago that turning off the screen alleviated alot of throttling, that is part of why I liked benching in my chest freezer, external screen
I initially found that just dropping the brightness all the way down helped as well
And as for a power estimate of the screen, just hook up a kill a watt and open and close the screen and observe the difference. If you have a kill-a-watt it becomes ALOT easier to diagnose this throttling as I am absolutely certain it is related to system power draw (I spend ALOT of time benching this laptop and pushing it right up to the limits). As mentioned before also, A03 caps out around 225W at the wall where A02 allows about 255W at the wall
(All before throttling that is)

Re: M17x Stutter
Surprisingly, after dropping it down to stock clocks on my CPU [ which is the QX9300 ] I'm still experiencing the same amoung of stuttering.

What a pain, I probably just got unlucky with my system haha

Re: M17x Stutter
Weird - well, thanks for testing that. Not sure why I see less stuttering than you do.

Re: M17x Stutter
Does the RGBLed draw less power?
and has anyone tried it yet on the R1. My R2 is not here yet
(first thing i'll try)
Also i'll give this a go with the external monitor.

Re: M17x Stutter
Most likely the RGBLED uses as much or more power than the CCFL screen.

Re: M17x Stutter
If we can somehow bypass the communication between the chip inside the charger and the mobo(BIOS) then we can use bigger chargers.

Re: M17x Stutter
With the GTX 280m's you should be able to push 300W if you have the screen brightness up
