Have you gone to the AMD site and downloaded the identification tool, which checks your system and then has you download the correct driver? If that doesn't work for you, I could try to send my 5850 driver to you, but I am at work, and I won't be able to do so till late today or tomorrow.

Here is a link to the 5870 driver from Dell for Alienware setups (specifically the M17x R2). I would suspect it would work for the 5850 driver, as the 5850 is a 5870 with slightly lower clocks.

This is the newest Mobility 5850 driver from the Acer site. I am pretty sure it would work fine on yours. Released 08/25/11.

Hope that helps! For my 7650m, I just used the Catalyst 12.6 setup, I believe, released at the end of June. However, to get it, I had to use the identification tool that you download from AMD first. Also, I believe the 12.6 CCC is for the 6xxx series and above. So, that Acer driver is probably as recent as its gonna get for you.

On my 5850 mobility for my m15x, I have yet to upgrade from the driver that originally came with it. Perhaps I need to look into doing this too!
