Try tapping F12 at the boot screen to launch the Boot Menu. Select Diagnostics to run a Preboot System Assessment (essentially a basic hardware check) and see what it reports.

Sorry, I probably haven't made myself very clear. I cannot boot up the laptop at all. Pressing the power button does nothing. :/ Any ideas?

My M15x mobo gave up too a few months ago. Haven't convinced myself that it's worth replacing yet.
@Raven Evo - If there is no power at all, then almost certainly either the mobo or the power supply has died. Even with a dead PSU, it should boot from the battery unless it too is dead. Sorry.
