    A couple of thoughts:

Try setting the number to 492

DON'T use the diagnose panel, just use the NORMAL BASIC ONE

492 bumps it down to 489 by itself.

Your registers aren't populated. Are you using a paid version?

Make sure your power scheme is set to "High Performance"

It is. if i change it to slp or mmt it will automaticly jump to 1626 mhz but i can up the fsb to 202 mhz and no effect when the system should die

yeah I paid for it but maybe it didn't register right but everytime I open it it doesn't ask me for a code.

If it has the Set FSB option then it's registered..

Try turning off your system and do a COLD reboot. (meaning let it shut down fully and be off for a few seconds before starting it up again).

Load up windows, open setfsb, asusn61jq, get, set number to 492/760, press set fsb.

That's all I did. Didn't change anything else in the program. It's defaulted to QPC and I didn't touch that!

Na nothing, just says fsb is now 149.5 but when i put 492 it jumps down to 489.

Do you think that the MOBO's could be slightly revised? when did you purchase yours? mine is only 3 weeks old.
