Constant Performance
I'm not talking about the option in Rivatuner.
Basically, my M15x, for no reason that I can fathom decides to run constantly at max performance (GPU). I know that Opera supports hardware acceleration (e.g. Microsoft's browser flip demo) but this seems ridiculous. I'm running at a pretty constant 30% usage either in or out of Opera. I've opened up task manager and ended not crucial tasks besides the system ones. I've scanned for viruses that might be causing it, and they turn up nothing.
Even in Stealth mode it uses 30% constantly.
If I allow it to run without being in stealth mode, it will crash the computer. The first time was artifacting, so I restarted, set my clocks to be default when windows loads which still didn't help, as it crashed again, but this time turned the screen grey and flickered violently. The third time the screen just froze.
Obviously, it's an issue with the GPU. I've downclocked it and put it in stealth mode (which alleviates the crashing but doesn't stop the constant performance). I don't think that the card is busted, as it hasn't reached anywhere near unacceptable heat levels, and I only start the overclock when playing games (which I haven't done for around a week now).
So, does anyone have any ideas? (Yes I've tried the press the power button for 20 seconds trick, which doesn't work)
P.S. I can actually say for once that I love Stealth Mode.
EDIT: I found out that Opera keeps running for a while after you close it, which is probably why I was getting the constant usage. Still doesn't explain how It just randomly started. Guess I'll just switch to firefox.Last edited by Hobgoblinpie; 5th June 2010 at 05:41 AM.
