Default Return or try to go for replacement?

    Hey Guys,

So after talking to dell, later realizing that the poor lighting on the lower half of my keyboard is not normal and that it would need to be replaced and that they could not determine that the lighting issues i've been having were a software issue I was asked to reinstall windows.

After hearing the cd drive grind the windows 7 disc and not install the OS at all they asked me to wait 30 minutes and call them back. Still to no success it hasn't re-installed at all.

At this point i'm ready to just say to hell with it and return it. But maybe someone else had a similar problem who had it resolved and is happy with their purchase.

The computer runs great it's perfect for my needs but I haven't even owned this computer for a week. Even the dell rep sounded shocked to hear me say I have only owned it since monday. But I have to call them back right away and maybe some opinions would be great.

Are you able to supply some pictures? The lighting effects on the bottom row seem a little spotty on my system. I'm not sure if that's normal or not, but it doesn't bother me that much.

I think that is normal. That is how my keyboard is as well.

As for the other problems, just call them back and tell them you aren't happy with it and try for a replacement.

These problems are usually just a bad build.

Yeah I guess doing it with white colors shows it the most but the space bar has like completely unlit spots in it and such, the function key is only like half lit not even.

My disc drive totally chewed up my windows 7 disc hah. Finally got it to install and after taking it out it's scratched to hell. While I was on the phone with the guy it just started grinding the disc. Lovely. I e-mailed their customer support in regards to returning it etc. When they phone me i'll ask about a replacement.

Hey can you guys test something for me on yours? If you set the displays to everything to be to white. The alienware logo on the screen and the touch bar near the top. Are they actually white? Mine comes out as a pinkish off white color also the grill in the front has red in it and some of my keys, Like the left arrow key and both control keys are not actually white. The speaker grill is emitting a red light on the chasis itself assuming it's just something inside the pc that's leaking the light out through the vents possibly.

Mine is as exactly as you described. Pinkish tinge in the touch bar, and red bleeding out of the front grills and arrow keys. My trackpad even has some weird colouring too.

I keep my lights blue to match my razer products, so I haven't really noticed this.

The AlienFX is such a tricky system, don't worry Naturalx, I think it's confirmed that everyone's system has that problem, I keep mine on red cause in darkness it looks like a pissed off mothership!
