    Default Sleep bug

This is my second day using my new laptop and it's already crashed twice. It always happens after it goes to sleep automatically (I have it set to sleep after 10 minutes w/o use when it's on battery power) and then I wake it up and try to open a program. Whatever program it is will open and then go to "not responding" as soon as you click inside the window. For example, I opened Launchy and typed Firefox and pressed Enter, Launchy crashed. I opened Firefox manually and clicked in the URL bar, Firefox crashed. I opened Thunderbird and clicked somewhere in its window, Thunderbird crashed. It seems to do this every time you bring it back from sleeping, and the only way to fix it is to completely reboot.

    i3, 4gb ram, 512mb nvidia, win7 64bit

So do you just have to disable it from ever sleeping or is there a workaround?

As others have mentioned, on a NV based lappie, waking to a black screen is a NV driver issue.

It's brand new so I'd assume the latest ones came with it. Is there a site you can download newer drivers?

I just have it sleep after awhile when it's not plugged in so the battery doesn't go flat.

don't assume anything, probably you have the oldest dell driver installed.

this is the newest driver, its beta version and its for 64 bit win 7 so if you have 32 bit then find the 32 bit version.

    NVIDIA DRIVERS 257.15 BETA
I downloaded the latest drivers from there like you said, it seems to be fine waking up from sleep now but it still crashes when it wakes up from hibernation. Am I the only one having this problem?

play around with different drivers, both M15x and M17x seem to have a problem waking from sleep and hibernation.
