Ram Upgrade? G.Skill vs Kingston hyperx
What are the major difference between the g.skill ddr3 1600 8gb and Kingston hyperx ddr3 1600 8gb? The price is pretty different 65 for g.skill and 95 for Kingston. I'm running i7 2630qm. Does 1333 have a differerence with 1600? Thank you in advanced.

Re: Ram Upgrade? G.Skill vs Kingston hyperx
i have the kingston hyperx ddr3 1600 8 gb, and you have to enable xmp profile 2 otherwise it will run at 1333 mhz. i don't know much about the other one. as for the difference between 1333mhz and 1600 mhz, you should not notice any bumps in speed with the 1600 mhz unless you are gaming with the integrated graphics chip. hope this helps a bit.

Re: Ram Upgrade? G.Skill vs Kingston hyperx
I have the g.skill and it runs at 1600 plug and play. The Kingston runs at 1333 unless you enable the xmp in the bios. Unless your benchmarking you will see little to no difference in real world between the two.
But it is nice to put in your sig you got it.
Either will serve you nicely. Enjoy..

Except for the heat spreader yes pretty much. I don't really see the point in a heat spreader on ram for a notebook when it's sealed inside a closed area not like a desktop. But maybe it helps some. The g.skill is good ram and will serve you well for less money.

Okay thank you for the info. I'm going for the g.skill saves me a couple of bucks.

Re: Ram Upgrade? G.Skill vs Kingston hyperx
Only difference (bar the heat spreader) is that the HyperX has ever so slightly tighter timings at 9-9-9-27 vs 9-9-9-28 for the Gskill. Unless you're Hi Cookie, I doubt it's gonna make a difference.

Re: Ram Upgrade? G.Skill vs Kingston hyperx
My vote is for G.Skill in this case. I love hyperX though just too expensive usually.
