Hard Drive errors....

After having my handy-dandy M11X R1 for a year, the hard drive has been turning faulty (as seen through random BSODs, inability to restore from Hibernate data, freezing up from just carrying the thing across the room to the printer). Has anyone else experienced this? (Error code 2000-146)

As another note, I did let Alienware know, and they will be sending me a new hard drive after my ownership transfer goes. I was curious, should I transfer my personal data from my current drive through windows backup or through easy transfer?

you really should just upgrade to an SSD, there are no moving parts, so you wouldn't have to worry about the drive failing mechanically. especially for an R1, this would be the biggest performance boost you'll be able to see. windows 7 runs great on an SSD. i loved it so much on my R2 that i got one for my desktop. you won't regret it

I've heard great things about SSDs, but I'm willing to continue with using an HDD if it's covered.

Transfer all of your data now. Windows Backup makes things a little difficult to access individual files so I'd suggest you copy/paste or use another imaging system (Acronis, Norton Ghost, etc). Do it now before that hard drive starts showing any more errors.
