It does look similar to my big Clevo and pretty much a shrunk down version.

Strange they didn't opt for a shrunk down EM instead of a HM casing though then could have housed a backlit board.

I like the styling of mine rugged and bland but hard wearing the workmanship is very good as are the materials used. Might have to pair it with one of the 11 inch models but not until next year at least.

But having the power available in this small form factor has been marvelous.

My machine has outperformed every other portable pc I have run into in this form factor and I can occasionally see other users drooling when they see it for the first time. Professors, students, and collegues alike can't resist ogling it when I pull it out. I love the capabilities of this machine. Often I can get a wireless lan signal when others can not. I never have problems running simulations and the long battery life is wonderful. I get around 5 hours with normal use.

I have not found the lack of an optical drive or the smaller keyboard to be a problem. But I have long-thin fingers, so as long as my keypresses are carefully placed I have no issue with double keying or hitting the wrong key any longer.

I shall miss the m11x alienware models. For their ability to provide a powerful yet also very portable and power conscious machine, i feel they were unmatched. I look forward to keeping and using mine for many years.
    I agree 100%

I'm happy with my current baby alienware, but if it gets too old I'd probably go for the Sager nontheless because of the portability, or maybe M14x if we get an option to remove the optical drive (to make space for bigger and more awesome components).
    No style points at all.

I believe they deduct it from the laptop in-case customers already have a W7 license key to save you money.

I thought it was sleezy at first until a reseller posted that somewhere.

Are you under the presumption that systems "include" a Windows 7 Home Premium key without actually costing anything to the build? Last time I checked, barebones configuration options were not a bad thing to have. Not everyone even uses Windows, which in that case would just be a wasted product key, and money.

Unless you plan on using Linux...what other system would one load up to it? Yes I assume most people use Window's, cause my work uses it and I have to bring my work home with me most of the time...if not I'm not going to get promoted.

Windows may have a big share in the OS market, but that doesn't invalidate the point. OS license keys are certainly not free for system builders, and the cost of them is directed to the consumer, whether they are forcibly included in configuration or not. If you want to pay for a unique Windows license and have it installed on the system, fine. If you don't, fine. The cost of the OS key is deductible.

This is a barebones configurator for the aforementioned Clevo W110ER. It's priced without any CPU, RAM, hard drive, wireless card, or OS. A complaint of "having to pay" for any of those components is silly as it assumes any of those things are free and are not deductible from the cost of the machine, which they are.
