No sadly I would not I am having this argument on the other thread and my argument still stands, I love clevo/sager do not get me wrong I have one (sig) but for my personal needs in an 11 inch notebook for gaming at high performance Battery is the most important thing and then comes the looks and features and finally the warranty in something small the alienware just looks awesome with its backlit keyboard and lighting features and style. I had one run in with Dell warranty and it was better than any other I have used including Asus, MSI, Clevo and HP.

If the Sager came with a backlit keyboard and a ULV CPU I would easily be bought the reason I do not like the 45watt quad that is offered is because I like to have my M11x running at high performance the majority of the time and because the ULV is only 17watts this is possible and also the heat that it would produce would be detrimental in the long term. At this time the Sager does not offer a ULV so I am an M11x man through and through.

Even so the choice was simple for me we do not have the sager in the UK at the moment and after getting my M11x R3 my views were confirmed I would not change this for the sager any day.

Your choice really depends on what is most important to you if you are after performance at the possible sacrifice of battery and heat (fan noise) and do not care for the lack of fancy features lights and backlit keyboard the Sager is the way to go because it will beat it hands down performance wise. If you want an Alienware like the rest of us did then you will get the M11x and you will be very pleased you did.

The I5/I7 ULV + 540M GT can run anything thrown at it Skyrim like a pro and even BF3 so for me with all the other features and my Clevo for my major gaming it has everything I need and if you look back over the last few people that bought one they will tell you the same.

I could talk all day Anything else you need to know I should cover here.

    Alienware M11x R3

    - Intel® Core i7 2617M (2.6GHz/4MB cache)
    - Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium 64-Bit
    - 8GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1333MHz
    - Mobile Intel® QS67 Chipset
    - 320GB SATA hard drive (7200RPM)
    - Intel® Wireless-N WiFi Link 1000 a/g/n 1x2 (Standard)
    - Stealth Black with Soft Touch Finish

With taxes & free shipping it came to $974.00, I'm very happy. Would have like Bluetooth, but not an issue. The HDD isn't a big deal either as I forsee upgrading to an SSD down the road.

But the Intel 1000 wi-fi, how bad is it? Should I look into an upgrade? If so, which card?

Also, the R3 will be placing my two year old, out of warranty, R1 with the overclocked SU 7300, 4gb ram, 320 HDD, and GT 355m. The battery is totally shot. Three screws on the bottom late wouldn't screw back in after getting off an hour long call with dell support, they don't appear to stripped but just won't screw in their holes. Do you think I'd be able to ask for $300 for my R1 with those two issues on eBay?
Very nice you got the I7 as well for the that price you cannot complain we are still paying £1k over here for the I7 version Dell are selling.

The Intel Wifi has its problems but so do other wireless cards and it is a very cheap and simple upgrade to a Killer N so dont worry if you dont like it $25 and you can just fit the new card in easily.

List your R1 on ebay at the price you want and allow offers, just be completely truthful about it.

Cool Yiddo, Btw I almost bought a g74 jh back in 2010...lol...until I found out about Alienware laptops. I would love to buy an Alienware M11x - r4 in the future if Dell decided going back to 11.6 laptop. The reason why i want to buy an Alienware laptop again is the build quality, backlit, the style is just awesome, and the advanced plan is one of the best warranty out there. Btw, money is not a problem for me.

I am Asus born and bread Had the G70S, G71/72 and G73JH before moving away. They are stylish laptops but Alienware comes with a lot of additional features that make them worth paying for, the price wont be much difference to what Asus charge either and you will get better performance to go with it.

The discussion on the R4 is saying Dell are going to move to Ultrabooks so it depends if that is more your interest personally I like the M11x style so it is not for me. I couldn't do without my Clevo however I am greedy and require both because its too big for the portable tasks and travelling.

You could get a Clevo/Sager and M11x for the same price as an M18x if that is what you are considering. Sager sort out a backlit keyboard and CPU options in their 11 inch models and I might reconsider but ULV is a must have.

Afraid not the R4 has been pulled or Dell are rather focusing on a different model such as an ultrabook.

Love my R3 more and more each day so if you are considering one get it fast before they go. Some new are still available from dell or the outlet and on Ebay.

I will be protecting mine with my life

Just a word of warning for all those considering an R3.

I have had mine for 3 months and the soft touch paint is peeling on most of the corners.

Still a fantastic computer, love it.

Dell gave me a curtosy call a few days ago, I had noticed the peeling a day before-hand. Anyway, a tech is coming out today to replace the casing.

My concern was that it would peel even further... The rep on the phone was very helpful.

I'm sad it's become discontinued. I'd happily buy an updated model in the future. and I hope Dell release a new revision in the years tom come.

EDIT: Sorry, trying to upload pics, keeps timing out.

128GB Crucial M4 SATA III is the best bang for buck. Suits the R3 perfectly and most get it.

I still have an old KIngston SATA II so cannot warrant the upgrade but when I do thats the one I will pick up.

thx but I got an Intel. Looks like I could have saved about $100 going with the Crucial. We'll see how performance is as I have another SSD for comparison sake.
