Re: Something VS Something
In regards to the R4 if it ever does come I can bet my bottom dollar it will come with a 640M and if the recent information about it are true the R4 will be an absolute monster, 64gb/s bandwidth and double the fillrate will be crazy fast in such a small model.
But yes you do need to make a decision and a choice sooner or later or you grow grey and old and are left with a 2nm chip the size of a peanut

Re: Something VS Something
very true man, but see i figure if its only going to be like two or three months for the R4 I would wait for it happily, but if it will take 6 months or more then i would just go ahead and get it
I guess I will force my self and wait till the end of July, better safe than sorry I guess
If it is going to be as big a monster as you say it should be (and prolly have more battery life and other bling) it will be worth the wait

Re: M11xR3 Pre-Order Configuration Questions... Ask HERE
Do remember these models do not lose value, as long as you dont run a car over it you can easily sell it for near enough its value. I never wait because I dont mind having and then selling for something new after a year.
No point having nothing and just waiting forever
lifes too short.
As per what I said no one knows what the R4 is going to be so do not rely on what I or anyone else says. Its all rumour.

Re: M11xR3 Pre-Order Configuration Questions... Ask HERE
LOL yeah... unlike me, I HATE to sell things, I dont know what it is, I guess I tend to get attached so they stay with me much longer than they need to, and by the time i need to sell...it would be worthless
I think i will wait, regardless of rumors it should be better in many ways, maybe even a better screen, plus it should be like 2-3 months max from now so not much of a wait, and if nothing happens (and that would be really dumb as the competition is gearing up already) by then i am sure the price would go down even lower, so I got nothing to lose... just need to be patient I guess, somehow

Re: M11xR3 Pre-Order Configuration Questions... Ask HERE
You need to remember that it has not even been announced - So not only are the release date rumors, an M11x R4 even being made in the first place is still an unconfirmed rumor.
They aren't even rumors based on leaked information or anything of that sort either, it is simply "Well there are new M14/17/18x's coming out, so surely an M11x too even though they haven't said anything about it!". All purely hearsay based on speculation. Nothing more.

Re: M11xR3 Pre-Order Configuration Questions... Ask HERE
I never said they were facts did I?

All I said is that i will wait since the ULV Ivy bridge should be out by then, if there will be an R4 then awesome and my wait was worth it.
if there wont be an R4 at that time then I will buy an R3 at a lower price cuz of the new chips that were released would lower the price anyways as it happened before.
win win the way i see it
oh and I forgot to mention that therehas to be an m11x R4, it is a big seller for alienware and won a few awards, it will only mean more money to them so i dont see why not at all, and now that other competitors are rolling lil gaming monsters (Sager) of their own... i think Alienware is gonna have to hit back and hit back hard.Last edited by ZK85; 15th April 2012 at 06:38 AM. Re: M11xR3 Pre-Order Configuration Questions... Ask HERE
I'm considering ordering a custom-built M11x R3 for my son, who will be attending college next year in pursuit of an engineering degree. What kind of configuration would I need to order so he can run all of his normal school applications, like Microsoft Office, and play games like Guild Wars 2, WOW, and Battlefield 3 and drive a 27" external monitor?
Also, what's it like to use an 11.6" screen. Seems a bit small for me, but I'm an old guy. LOL
Thanks!

Re: M11xR3 Pre-Order Configuration Questions... Ask HERE
I5 2467
4GB Ram
540M GT 1gb
500/750GB HDD
That is the deal in the UK at the moment for £700.00. Call dell. He wont need the I7. Be warned games like Battlefield 3 running the latest Frostbite engine even the latest graphics card struggle with it so it will need to run native low-medium and Guild Wars 2 will need to be the same as well. World of Warcraft will run flat out with ease very well same for the majority of other games. The 11 inch screen at 720P is perfect especially if he intends to take it to college.

Re: M11xR3 Pre-Order Configuration Questions... Ask HERE
Would he be better served with a refurbished M14x R1 with an i7 2630QM and a 1.5 GB GT 555M?

Re: M11xR3 Pre-Order Configuration Questions... Ask HERE
The M14x is always going to be a better option and depending on if you can wait the M14x R2 is going to be a beast. However, it is much bigger and nowhere near as portable he would not be able to put it in a string draw bag like we can with the M11x and carry it around as its only 2kg the M14x is another kilo and then a lot bulkier. Plus the biggest drawback the battery on our M11x with a ULV can reap 5-6 hours of browsing and 2-3 hours of gaming, knock that down an hour for the M14x and for gaming expect to half the time.
