if you have the ICS PLL(you can check with setfsb(guide in first post) you need to solder a 10k risistor to ground in order to unlock the TME, then you can set it at whatever speed the cpu can run at.

if you have an SLG pll you need to solder a the pin to 3.3v to set it to run at 1.73ghz, 2.0ghz, 2.4ghz. the cpu/memory may not be able to reach these speeds....

Okay so in either case I need to use an application to set the speed on the processor.

Thanks for the help. I will get back to you all once I found out what chip type it is. Merry Christmas

no. With the SLG pll you solder different pins for different speeds.

Anybody in France already succeed in Pinmod and would be ok to do it for me ? :x

Not that i'm lazy to do , made a few search on this topic , but i have like to left hands , and i'm not skilled with soldering ( do it on Arcade PCB easy cause solder are bigs , but i already failed a Gamecube modchip that was that size ... )

So I've disassembled my m11x twice so far trying to get this pin mod thing to work... i've basically disintegrated the pin right now with a hobby knife and it STILL SAYS my pin is connected... any advice anyone? I'd really appreciate it

the chip is 'floating' right now, depending on the chip it could go high, or low. I've made more than a few posts about this

Well thanks for the reply.. I thought about trying the solder thing but I guess that wouldn't help it. My computer works 100% like it used to so I'll just leave it as it is until I can afford a new desktop.

Default Hello! M11x R1 SLG Pinmod Issues!

Hello, I'm new to the forum, but not new to my M11x R1! I've had it well over a year now, and I've been thinking about getting more power out of it. I did the research, and I now have my netbook opened up, and I'm attempting to solder a 10k resistor between pins 7 and 55 on the SLG chip.

I wouldn't call myself experienced in soldering, but I've done soldering on various wiring and circuitry before. The issue I seem to be having (besides the fact that I'm not using a microtip on my iron) is that the solder won't stick to the pins! I could use any advice any of you are willing to give, but once I put a little bead of solder on the pin, it cools, and pops right off with essentially no force at all! I don't know what I'm doing wrong!

My concern is that even if I manage to get the pins soldered to the resistor, that any shaking or bumping will result in the resistor popping right off! Help!

If you are uncomfortable soldering to the pins you can use the other method

"(Easymod) Cutting PIN 14 using a small but hard object like a 1mm screwdriver or needle. It is cheap and dirty as a soldering iron is negated and dirty because it inprecise cutting can damage adjacent pins. For what it’s worth, I removed my resistor mod and used this cheap and dirty method. It still works but for whatever reason, I doubt I can reenable TME ever again as the pin is very small."
This is on the first page of DavyGT's guide, and if you have steady hands and patience its less risky than soldiering.

Using what for solder? Acid based? Is the surface clean?
