    You mean you successfully installed windows to the sandisk on your desktop and it worked fine, yes? - same CD? - if so, that lead me to believe there is something up with your optical drive. If you have an external optical, you could try installing from that.

    I assume you are using the generic Dell Win7 OEM OS disc, right?

    yes i did install windows in my sandisk on my desktop. Installation completed successfully and i am typing this from the desktop using sandisk. I installed the os from the reinstallation dvd provided by dell for my dell vostro v130. As my desktop is too old the ssd is running in sata 2.0. I am getting a read speed of 245MB/s.

    When i try installing windows into this ssd on my laptop using the alienware dvd i am able to install the os but the system is not able to boot after the installation finishes and keeps giving errors i told you earlier.

    Also my optical drive cant be malfunctioning because i can install os in my samsung ssd and boot from it. Does sandisk have any compatibility issues with alienware m18x r1?

    I'm not sure if Sandisk has any compatability probs with AW in particular, but its a Sandforce based drive and I have seen them not "play nice" before.

    If you can install successfully to the Samsung drive on your Alienware machine using the Alienware Win7 Disc then it shows that all the hardware/software is fine....its just the Sandisk drive in your Alienware thats giving you grief. You can install an OS to the Sandisk on your desktop but its not same AW win7 dvd, is it?....its another OS disc that works fine.

    I'd try installing from the AW dvd to the Sandisk while installed in your desktop - that would rule out a corrupted or damaged AW OS dvd.

    Out of interest, can you install with the AW dvd to the Samsung without error on your AW machine?

    Yes i can install os from alienware dvd to samsung without any errors and i can boot from it on my laptop.
    I will try installing the os from alienware dvd to sandisk on my desktop.
    I have also done a diagnostic test on the laptop and here is the result for sandisk ssd
    [URL="https://picasaweb.google.com/100620789745911595891/SsdError?authuser=0&authkey=Gv1sRgCMX20rOk9KP57gE&feat=directlink"]

    The diagnostic test shows that my hard drive is not working. Please tell me what this means?
    If the sandisk is malfunctioning, how can i use it on my desktop?

    I have just filed a complained with sandisk and they have agreed to send me a new drive. Thank you stevie for all the help.

    Has anybody else installed a sandisk extreme ssd in their alienware laptop and have you faced any problems from the drive?

    No problemo, my friend. Glad to help out.

    I take it you were unable to install the AW dvd to the Sandisk whilst in your desktop? - if that's so, the only thing it can be is the Sandisk drive and I am glad you have another on the way.....let's hope it works!

    I get a similar error with my 2 SSD's in raid 0. Was fine on my m18x R1 but on R2 on start it says sometimes that my raid array .... Failed. I manually hard reboot and then it works. Not sure why.
