Default M11x HDMI problem, "red dots"

Hi, i received my new M11x r2 today and i'm overall very happy with it. I got one big issue though and that's when i try to hook up the M11x to my 32" Philips Full HD LCD TV. It connects fine and everything, but i get red little "dots" sprinkeling in different places. They come and go, here and there. Earlier today I had some problem with stuttering audio too. I also own a PS3 and it plays just fine. No red dots at all.

The causes I can think of is:

    A. I have a bad cable and that is what's causing the red dots and the audio stuttering. Either because of signal disturbences or because it can't handle the transfer rate.

    B. My HDMI port on my M11x is broken.

I don't own another cable nor have a friend that also got a HD TV so I hope that you guys can help me or i'll have to buy a new cable to test with.

Relevant Specs for my M11x R2: Core i5, 4 GB ram, 500 GB harddrive.

    Best Regards Andreas Rovio

PS. Sorry if my english isn't that good, I live in Sweden. DS.

Given the fact that you don't have access to another HDMI cable, I'd try to head to store that has some displays or TVs on display that you could use to test. You might pitch it to them as you're wanting to see what resolutions your M11x can handle efficiently so that you can make a TV purchasing decision. Or... something like that.

If you see the same thing on one of their displays or TV then you might ask them to let you borrow a cable to determine if it's bad.

Well, you already narrowed it down to everything that I would suggest. You tested the TV with another known-good device (the PS3), so you know it's not a problem with the HDTV.

So, the problem is either the cable, or the laptop itself. And right now, there is no way to tell the difference unless you either test the cable with a known-good device, or you test the laptop with a known-good cable.

How are you connecting the PS3 to the HDTV? Can you use the same HDMI cable to test?

I'm using the same cable for the PS3. Why i thought about it being the cable is if the transfer rate is higher for the M11x or something like that.
