I cant install the camera on my 5672
i formatted my brand new 5672 to combine partitions and get rid of all the crap acer put on it. I installed everything fine except i cant get the camera to work. The camera drivers from acer website install fine but it doesnt detect it. Also do i need to install the drivers with e in front of them for 5672, the ones with acer utilities. Any benefit to have them?

Re: I cant install the camera on my 5672
there is no benefit to the "e"crap.
as for the camera -- works fine for me. I may have downloaded the Logitech OrbiCam drivers found on Google, though. as of build 5472 there are Vista drivers in Windows Update.

Re: I cant install the camera on my 5672
i'll try looking for different drivers , the camera worked fine when i first got the laptop before i formatted and the pc detects it too i just cant install the right drivers for it. Also the drivers from ATI.com are not supported by the 5672, is that normal. I get a msg that my laptop manufacturer is not supported and i should contact my company.

Re: I cant install the camera on my 5672
I had the same problems as the originial poster. In Device Manager the camera was a yellow question mark. I've done the install of the OrbiCam package (AS5670_Orbicam_9.4.0.1120) with both the application install and the driver only install. The application and driver appear in Add/Remove Programs. I've removed them both and tried installing them in the other order. I've also tried pointing the driver install to "AS5670_Orbicam_9.4.0.1120\CCD\Drivers\WinNew\321" the only place with valid inf files, which did not work either.
I noticed that Properties->Details->Hardware Ids [from Device Manager] has this listed:
USB\Vid_046d&Pid_0896&Rev_0100
USB\Vid_046d&Pid_0896
The lv321v.inf file has entries for Pid_0892, not Pid_0896. I did a search and replace for PID_0892 to PID_0896 and repointed the driver install at the directory. The camera was found and worked after I did this, but the tracking thing does not work (the VisageON->Enable/Disable Face Tracking options are grayed out as well as Reset Camera Position). I have a feeling that my particular 5672 notebook has a newer version of the camera and the drivers aren't updated for it.
Please let me know if there is another solution out there... or if your camera works fine can you list the Hardware Ids?

Re: I cant install the camera on my 5672
An alternative is to downloading and install the Logitech Drivers. Read this thread.
Acer Orbicam with Logitech Software!

Re: I cant install the camera on my 5672
I have previously read that thread and downloaded the QuickCam Orbit drivers (qc848enu.exe). These drivers do not work, could you provide the product or filename of the drivers that worked for you?
Also, I called Acer about this and they were decidedly unhelpful. They weren't willing to help me because I don't have "Acer Windows" (I've deleted the original partitions and did not create a backup CD). I pointed out the PID from the drivers were different from the PID of the hardware and stressed the point that there is no difference with driver creation between Home and Pro and all I want is the drivers they originally put on the laptop. The tech (unfortunatly I didn't get his name) was unable to help me in that regard, so I requested his supervisor. He went through this whole big thing about it being a call back and not worth it and I kept saying that was fine, I just wanted to hear from his supervisor why they don't have the latest drivers on the website... and he hung up on me.

Re: I cant install the camera on my 5672
I installed "is730.enu" - Logitech Imagestudio and "qc848enu.exe" - Logitech QuickCam"
Try installing the QuickCam drivers (if you haven't already). Then install the Logitech Imagestudio program.
Run Imagestudio
Click on the "Create Pictures and Videos" tab
On the left panel under the image window (probably blank in your case) and above the "Record a Video" button click on the "Change Camera Setting Button"
Click on the "Advanced camera settings..." button
On the video tab, under the "Setting for camera" do you have a camera selected. It should say Acer Orbicam
