Re: I cant install the camera on my 5672
So I wait.
I made a recovery cd right when I got it, so would I be able to get the drivers out of that?

Re: I cant install the camera on my 5672
The camera works for me but "Face Tracking" does not work. Here are some more detailed instructions.

Mine looks like this:
USB\Vid_046d&Pid_0896&Rev_0100
USB\Vid_046d&Pid_0896
This fix is only if it says Pid_0896 (the drivers are written for Pid_0892).
Download the Orbicam drivers from ASUS' website and unpack them
Navigate to\CCD\Drivers\WinNew\321
Open the lv321.inf file in notepad (double clicking it should open it in notepad)
Edit, Replace
Find what: 0892
Replace with: 0896
Replace All
Save
Go back to Device Manager, Double click the camera
Driver Tab
Update Driver
Install from list or specific location
Include this location:\CCD\Drivers\WinNew\321
This should get the camera working.
I called Acer about this issue and asked them to get the latest drivers on the website (they obviously have them because they come installed). The tech went from saying that the drivers for XP Home and Professional are different (!), to the newest drivers are on the website, to the the drivers are only for the "Acer Edition" of Windows (!!), to there is nothing he could do. When I asked to talk to his manager he hung up on me. I don't expect Acer to have a real fix for this anytime soon.Last edited by jdkallio; 28th August 2006 at 10:25 AM.

Re: I cant install the camera on my 5672
I faced the same problem, but I solved it by using the driver from acer Euro site especially the one at acer UK website.
To install camera driver succefuly you need to Uninstall it first, and install again to rollback all the changes you made to the driver version as you mentioned in your post after that download the software from acer UK website and do the setup.
Hope this help

Re: I cant install the camera on my 5672
Alright so I did the thing about changing 892 to 896, I installed and even restarted the comp just for good measure. I open up My Computer, doube click on Acer Orbicam, but all I get is a black rectangle after it says "Initializing device."
So I don't know. I have XP Pro, btw.
Sigh...

Re: I cant install the camera on my 5672
The driver from the Acer Europe website works for me (http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers...5620_5670.html, Logitech Camera Driver 9.4.4.1069a, orbicam_944_1069_a(whql).zip). Note the lv321.inf now has entries for %PID_0896_DD%=PID_0896,USB\VID_046D&PID_0896. Thanks!

Re: I cant install the camera on my 5672
I have tried the US and UK drivers, and the device installs using BOTH, however, when starting the software, the "camera is in use by another application" . . . I can't get around this issue. I will try the other driver that Gradius posted above. Anybody else having this issue? I'm using XP Pro SP2 clean install. Thanks.

Re: I cant install the camera on my 5672
Still no go . . . the driver installs fine and recognizes the camera (just like the US version did), but the won't see the picture b/c "the camera is in use by another device" . . . can't figure it out! The driver is installing fine, but I can't figure out what program is using the **** device. Nothing shows up in windows task manager . . . I even tried manually shutting down every non-system program in task manager and still no go. Anybody?
