ver4 is what you need for a q9000 and it wont support other quads either.
    ver2 is x9100 tops

    x9100 works great at 3.4 at 1.23 voltage 3ghz its at 1.2v

    if its a 9600mgt 1gb then the ddr3 version is a nice upgrade or a gt240m

Thank you for the answer. I have been looking on ebay and a x9100 plus a fx 3700m will cost me roughly 500$ and on top of that I need 6gb ram. Maybe it's time to consider a new laptop even though I really like this one.

    Thanks
Well I can tell you right now you can't upgrade to 6GB. The motherboard in the AS8930G will only support 4Gb. You can put 6GB in there, but you'll still only be able to use 4Gb because of the mobo.

My Q9200 should be here by Friday, and if it works in mine, I would imagine a Q9100 would work in yours.

now you have no clue what your talking about.

yes it says supports 4gb because thats the MAX they had to test at he time. Im using 6gb atm and its going great the mobo isnt limited though it wont take 8gb though the chipset on the motherboard supports it.

read the thread instead of posting what you think.

well i can see from this post you still havent read the other thread lol

lol your so wrong(acer say 4gb max in the spec but it will run 6gb max)
it runs great on 6gb, but you will need win 7 64bit to use more than 4gb but that goes for any laptop on the market with win 7 32bit not just the 8930g

good luck with the Q9200 because its not going to work on the 8930g

Nice to hear it can support 6Gb of RAM. This is what I love about this forum. I get to run my old beater of a laptop that officially only supports 533MHz FSB at 100MHz FSB. Now this is why we're all here, right? Not to have a debate but to help each other out.

@shakennstirred-nice OC on your cpu. Mine is a T8100 @2.8GHz.

Well, I was wrong. The Q9200 didn't work.

So my mobo is a ver 00, but from what I gather the X9100 should work.

did you go for 4gb+2gb or try the 1 stick of 8gb in hoping that it would work?
