I tried searching before I created this thread but this forum's search feature is apparently useless, so I apologize if this has been discussed ad nauseum.
I have an Acer Aspire 5472 i5 W764bit laptop that is less than two years old. Starting almost a year after I got it the RIGHT palm rest started to become uncomfortably warm even when performing basic tasks such as word processing or web browsing. I purchased a well reviewed cooling pad which helped for a while but doesn't help much anymore. All my built in fans appear to be running properly and I tried cleaning them to no avail. I even made sure the fans on my cooling pad were clean and working well. I wiped my computer's HD and reinstalled Windows 7 thinking something something have have been installed incorrectly causing the machine to overheat but that apparently was no the case. Interestingly, the left palm rest is completely fine and the area under the number pad just a bit further to the right than the keyboard's right palm rest is also completely fine. It's just the area directly to the right of the trackpad that gets hot. Does anyone know any solutions to this? What hardware is under the right palm rest that could be creating this heat? I have a MaxAssurance plan from OfficeMax that allegedly covers almost everything but when I tried to file a claim with them they said that unless the heat is causing the computer shutdown they will not cover repair costs of a warm palm rest. Any ideas on how to fix or mitigate this would be greatly appreciated. thanks!
