    Default Cpu question

So i have a Acer Aspire 5740G with the following:
    Intel Core i3 processor 330M (2.13 GHZ, 3MB L3 Cache)
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 up to 2746 MB HyperMemory
    4 GB Memory

So, my question is, if i want to play a MMO game that requires a minimum of Intel Pentium 4 2.8 GHZ or AMD K8 2600+ and a recomended of Intel Pentium 4 3.0 Ghz or later or AMD K8 3000+ or later, can i play it or not?
I really don't understand much of computers, so i would appreciate if someone could answear. Oh and is there a way to cool off the processor and hard drives? Cause when i play the games for some time, like 1h+ it starts to be quite hot.

You should be able to play it unless the game performs some sort of clockspeed requirements check that prevents you from starting it, but there are ways around those.

The Pentium 4 is old enough that I use one from an old PC as a paperweight. Some good memories.

Your processor is very fast. Put it this way your cpu is around 10x faster on some applications and scores around 5x better on 3dmark06 cpu.

Your CPU should be plenty capable. It is a cooling issue, most laptops are not the best when it comes to it.
Playing that long will warm things up. Is your fan(s) working correctly and not clogged?
A cooling pad would be a wise investment also if you are a heavy gamer.

This notebook has a very good cooling system and your CPU is enough to meet the requirements. Make sure you clean the vents using a gas-duster (canned air) to get rid of any accumulated dust.

Kind of surprised any mass produced, low cost laptop has 'very good' cooling. You're the boss though.

OK, those advertised as gaming laptops like Alienware maybe. I just don't think the sinks, heatpipes and fan(s) on most laptops are very good. You may well be correct on the particular model here.

Just my opinion, please don't ban me.

Well I meant "good for a laptop". I have this notebook and it's virtually impossible to make it overheat (assuming vents are clean).

Here's a screenshot of Furmark from my initial test (HD5650 OCed from 550/750 to 670/900) Max temperature= 71*C

No issues running FurMark and Prime95 at the same time either.

And no I have no intention of banning you

Yes, impressive 71 degrees is well within tolerance. The lappy will get warm though as the OP mentioned. I do hope he/she blows out his vents/fan regularly. And cooling pads do work if pointed in right direction, same as laptop fan. Some people flip them the wrong way and fight the laptop fan.

    Thanks for not banning me.
