re: Acer 5920G, upgrade from 8600M GT to 9500M GS or 9600M GT
Yes. That one fixes all known compatibility problems with 9600M GT DDR3.

In theory, it should work. In practice, many (most?) DDR2 cards are made by Asus, and produce black screens and other problems in Acers.

re: Acer 5920G, upgrade from 8600M GT to 9500M GS or 9600M GT
After few days i have in my hand the (used) vga 9600M GT from ebay BUT UNFORTUNATELY i have big problem.
When put it into my laptop (5920G) i have NO POWER, NO WAY... battery, cable-psu, battery + cable-psu... No power > no power up > no 9600M GT.
And the lamp on the psu (on the cable, the green light lamp) flashing if connected at my laptop (and at 220v wall socket).
After this test i put again my old (8600M GT) vga card and all ok except my battery not work without cable connected, so no battery.
If connect the power cable-psu (with battery) all ok and the battery looks charge normal (and the laptop boots ok in windows) but if disconnect from cable-psu no power > shut down, i will try to fix the battery problem after test...but my bigger problem is the 9600M GT.
WHAT is the wrong with vga card? what is the problem? Is the vga card (from ebay) defect or something...WHAT?
Please help me...
edit
The battery stuck at 86 % and i think is destroyed...
The battery is 14,8 Volt model...Last edited by dedalos91; 3rd August 2012 at 12:29 PM.

re: Acer 5920G, upgrade from 8600M GT to 9500M GS or 9600M GT
The card has a short-circuit between PWR_SRC and GND - check with a multimeter. If it is indeed the case, send it back to the seller.

Ok i found this:
"Re: Acer aspire 7720-6152
The card is probably short.
Check for a short-circuit between the card's PWR_SRC and GND pins (pin numbers can be found in the MXM specification on mxm.borec.cz)."Last edited by dedalos91; 18th November 2012 at 09:19 AM.

NetRolller 3D you are actually a Notebook Deity. YOU ARE GOD !

THANKS - THANKS - THANKS

Just now i am posting from my Acer 5920G with my "new" nVidia 9600M GT (512MB, GDDR 3). Your patched BIOS WORKS ["Aspire 5920G (Phoenix, with unlocked menus, updated 2011-11-06): http://ifile.it/noxplab/5920G_MXM_V3.WPH" ?].
I will test my laptop for few days but in this 1-2 hours works nice...
THANKS....

We need to do something with the temperatures on the laptop now with the 9600M GT?
Maybe must someone change this: "[Note: The 9600M GT is NOT compatible with the 5920G]" in this page: Acer MXM Models and CardsLast edited by dedalos91; 1st February 2013 at 12:34 PM.

For temperatures, you may need a copper shim for the GPU.
