Next Acer Upgrade?
Hello, I have just recently upgraded my Aspire 5315 from the original spec to:-
Core 2 duo t7300 2Ghz
2gig Ram
160 Gb 7200rpm hard drive
latest BIOS
Win 7
I dont want to upgrade this any further (might put 3gig in). What is the next step up from the 5315 in regards to chipset/graphics? Can I find another Acer with such upgradable headroom for a reasonable price -£150 ?

Re: Next Acer Upgrade?
For what functionality are you looking to upgrade?
An SSD is by far the best single upgrade you can make to your system in order to make it more responsive.BISHOP (PRIMARY)

Re: Next Acer Upgrade?
Where can I find this list?
I mainly use my laptop for Dreamweaver/Photoshop and would like to play a few games. I really just like to upgrade them, taking them from there original spec and pushing them to there limits of capability. The 5315 was a prime example of that.
I wanted to move away from intergrated graphics and onto mxm if possible.

Re: Next Acer Upgrade?
Thanks great site.
I have just bought a aspire 5715z on e-bay, it was an impulsive buy didnt really do my research, but it was only £31 including shipping no hard drive or memory though( I have some from my last upgrade to test it)
Any ideas were I can go with this? What is the difference between the 5715z and the 5315? Iam not being lazy I do search haha , but is there anything I need to know about this specific machine?
I have bought the 5715z in haste, in my previous posts I was going on about moving away from intergrated graphics! what have I done
oh well

Re: Next Acer Upgrade?
Oh no...Looks like Iam starting over again. By the looks of it The 5715z and the 5315 are both the same apart from the fact that you get a dual core with the 5715z. dam, but for £31 you cant complain.

Re: Next Acer Upgrade?
any models ending with a 'z' are the budget versions (low end) and any upgrades are very limited. gpu chips usually come integrated with the mobo chipset in the z models. Buying an SSD is the best upgrade for a noticeable boost in performance like someone else commented above.

Re: Next Acer Upgrade?
Um you can upgrade the motherboard in both of those models to a G model with an MXM slot. That is what you should have done with the 5315 instead of buying a new laptop. You need a 5720g motherboard.
