It will use DDR3 vram, not GDDR5.

That's true- it's a lower clocked version of 640M (500MHz core instead of 625MHz) so it stands to reason that wouldn't use faster memory than 640Ms used in Acers.

Besides we all know Acer won't start using GDDR5 until the rest of the world is on GDDR9

It appears to be a genuinely good laptop- two serious drawbacks, based on the review in question, are lack of an integrated 3G modem and a glossy LCD.

Add a third drawback ... the craptastic low resolution HD display. An HD+ display on a 14" notebook is a must have these days. Even Dell's new XPS 14 will have one. Get with it Acer.

When the hell is this being released, man? They debuted it with a press release in May, with no release date. Mid-June is the only release date i've seen mentioned and Engadget is the only source of that date. It's also stupidly vague.

This god damn thing doesn't even exist. The European model that is listed on each individual European Acer website with specs, is not available for purchase anywhere! The UK website lists the M5 as the newest in their Ultrabook range, yet no models are even listed for this one.

I don't want to buy the M3 only for the M5 to release two weeks later. Can anybody shed some light on a UK release date? I'm a desperate man. :/

i am thinking of getting the m3 for 945$ usd tho.. the m5 is about 300$ more expensive, is that worth the upgrade?

Pay attention to cooling/overharting problems when looking through reviews.
The rest is known- quality is OK, screen is mediocre, performance is good, battery times are good too.
Still if it's overheating and has throttling issues- it's a no-go.
