Re: Acer Aspire 7750g Owner's Thread
popeye1128 has right. I like silent and low heat, unfortunately i can't set manual fan with 0 rpm.
When idle ( web atc) HD6650 running with max freeq. clocks - 600/800 and this is little unproductive.
That's why i tried underclock and undervolt AMD6650. Now running with CCC profile Maximize battery life from 1.0v(max performance) to 0.9(battery maximized) and lowered clocks with MSI afterburner.
That's all what i can do.Last edited by ex.treme; 26th May 2012 at 03:56 AM.

Re: Acer Aspire 7750g Owner's Thread
Where was this thread when I needed it a month ago xD?
I bought a 7750G-2634Mnkk last month and I'm really loving it. I fell in love with the 17.3" screen. Coming from a 15.6", the difference was definitely noticeable. I now find 15.6" way too small. I initially had a problem with the laptop out of the box where the whole system would hang for a moment every 5 or so minutes, but that was fixed with a system restore.
One thing I am having problems with is installing Leshcat's drivers. They install just fine, but there's no context menu option, nor an option in CCC to select a GPU.
Anyway, here's what I know about the laptop.
Mine came with the 6650M, which I'm able to overclock from 600/800 to 750/950 providing around a 30% boost in most games.
I haven't played with overclocking the 2630QM yet as it more than sufficient for my needs.
This particular model had two DIMM slots for a total of 8GB of RAM. It also has a Toshiba MK7559GSXP 5400RPM 750GB hard drive.
As for the hard drive bay, I've had hell trying to find somewhere that stocks the expanded cover. I've found a few places that sell them, but either they're out of stock or won't ship to Australia. If someone knows where I can get them, please give me a shout.
From my searches though, I did manage to come across this. It allows you to replace the optical drive with another harddrive or a SSD. Not practical for me, but hey, someone could use it.
If there's anything more you guys need to know about this model, let me know. I'm more than happy to help.Last edited by bache; 27th May 2012 at 06:28 AM.

Re: Acer Aspire 7750g Owner's Thread
Please bare with me as I'm fairly new to doing the things I'm asking the questions below about.
I just bought this new Acer Aspire laptop about a week ago.
Acer Aspire AS7750G-6645 NX.RVHAA.002 Notebook PC - Intel Core i5-2450M 2.5GHz, 4GB DDR3, 500GB HDD, DVDRW, AMD Radeon HD 7670M, 17.3 Display, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit at TigerDirect.com
With it I purchased an extra 4GB of memory to upgrade it to 8GBs. I bought 4GBs DDR-1333 (PC3 10600). Which is what the tigerdirect website said was the Memory I needed. However when I put it into the laptop my laptop is still showing I have only 4GBs of Ram. I know both Memory sticks work because I tested each on there own in the laptop and also each together in both memory slots. In the end it's only showing I have 4GBs (3.86GBs) of Ram. Asking around the answer I'm getting is the Memory sticks probably aren't the same speeds. Here is the extra memory I bought: Crucial CT51264BC1339 4096MB PC10600 DDR3 SODIMM Laptop Memory Upgrade - 1333MHz, Non-ECC, Unbuffered at TigerDirect.com
Does anyone know the exact specs of the Memory in my Acer Aspire 7750G-6645?
Should I just purchase another 1 of the 4GB crucial memory I bought as the extra memory? and then not use the memory that same with the laptop? That way I'd know they were the exact memory speeds.
I also had a few ppl tell me I might need to update the Bios. I looked and seen I have Version 1.17 of the Bios and on the Acer Support Acer Support: Downloads & Support Documents - Notebook / Aspire / Aspire 7750G website it says there are 3 updates after my version ad are currently on version 1.20, but it doesn't say what the Bios updates fix. Should I update the Bios???
If it could be something else please feel free to let me know.

Make sure you have the new memory chip seated correctly. I would suggest taking it out and putting it back in and booting.
I have the same model of laptop and added a 4gb stick of pny ddr3 10666, worked just fine. A memory stick with the capability of a higher clock will work just fine with a slower one, for the most part. Therefore, the memory doesn't have to be exactly the same.
Also, your BIOS isn't the problem, it will detect it automatically.
Bottom line is its either the stick isn't properly seated or there's a problem with the slot on the motherboard. You may even try swapping the factory installed stick into the second slot to make sure the slot isn't the problem.
Good luck and report back your results so that you may help someone else who may have the same or similar problem

Re: Acer Aspire 7750g Owner's Thread
Yea, you should hear a definite click sound when you push down on the memory and it is seated properly. Once it is seated, the tops of the little metal holding bars should be in the half circle cut outs on the sides of the memory.

@Lofaw
Check if BIOS shows 8GB or not. 3.86 is clearly the value reported by Windows.

Re: Acer Aspire 7750g Owner's Thread
Thanks guys!!! I finally got it working. I first checked Bios which said I had 4096mbs of Ram. After that I took the suggesting of putting the old memory in the 2nd slot with nothing in the 1st slot. Computer had power when I tried to boot it, but it didn't boot up. I opened her back up and put the new memory back in the 1st slot and then took the old memory out and then put it back in this time hearing a click. Which didn't happen any other time I did it. I think the clip on the left was in the way just slightly and wouldn't allow the memory all the way in. So although it looked like it was in right it must have barely missed touching together. Anyway it works and it's showing I have 8 GBs of Memory. Thanks a lot everyone.
I'll be back in a few weeks to ask for help putting an SSD in the 2nd HD Bay.

Just for anyone who is interested.
I have been messing with over clocking the gpu (7650m). Now, I have not done it properly, I didn't use a benckmarking program to establish a baseline and make small adjustments as I should have.
What I have found thus far is I can comfortably run the gpu at 725/900 (up from 600/900) without and stability issues whatsoever. Temps do not exceed 65c. I find that this results in nearly identical frame rates in games that are reported at notebookcheck.com for the 7690m.
I have oc'd to 750, but began noticing graphical artifacts. I don't think any increase between 725 and 750 will make a noticeable difference, so I will leave it at 725.
I'm surprised how well this laptop does, I've been able to run games such as mw3, dead island, borderlands, skyrim... at near Max settings at 1600x900 without dropping below 30fps. Of course, specific performance varies between the games I mentioned above.
The only real problem I've run into is that during game play, occasionally the switchable graphics decides to kick in and switch to the HD Intel chip set, I have to alt+tab out and use trixx to reset the clock speed. I have unlocked my BIOS and set the video chip set (peg) to static, it still likes to switch but at least I can over clock the gpu now.
Load times are a bit slow coming off of the 5400rpm hdd, I'm still trying to stomach purchasing a ssd. Good prices can be found on them, I just don't want to buy one just yet.
While none of this info is methodical, or done in a proper way, I hope it helps to clarify any info or provide some amount of help to anyone who may be interested.
