Kinda doubt you'll get any warranty after modifying the cover and all. Good luck though if it comes to that.

I doubt the cover would matter in the warranty process

They can be pretty anal sometimes. Probably the luck of the draw on who processes it.

Hopefully, when you look at my account name, you will understand the reason why I am posting here. My bet is that Popeye is gonna know exactly what I need to do.

    Switchable graphics drivers?!

I have been a computer tech for a few years, bought the (and you can guess this) Acer Aspire 7750g-6645 from tigerdirect. Reformatted it, set up all of the drivers and noticed it froze for like an entire minute while watching youtube videos.

Learned more about my laptop and that it had something called switchable graphics; switched from high performance to saving power for chrome and it hasn't occurred since. I was going to check my temperature gauges using speccy, it crashed with some 126 library error.

Cross referencing that error with my laptop, it had something to do with the switchable graphics and blah blah blah.

Found popeyes post on another forums with the modded bios; installed it--- my laptop does not start anymore... just kidding... I enabled PEG only (or whatever it was and changed to muxxed fixed scheme). I stopped receiving errors like with speccy so I considered it a victory.

However, it was also recommended that I pick up leshcat drivers; Upon researching it, I found tons of conflicting posts from different users (stuff like using YAC - I think it was called that), using 12.3 --- using 12.2 --- use the hybrid (up2) or switchable graphics (Whs.s.dshds?).

So, the whole point of this post, is to figure out, what the best course of action would be. Obviously, the ACER drivers are outdated, I would like to not use these. But which version of leshcat should I use and how do I go about installing them (Device manager?) My laptop comes with I5-2450 and HD7670m

    Thanks

Thanks for your misplaced confidence in me

First leshact's site is still not allowing downloads until he gets it fully going. He switched servers and domain.

I honestly don't know what to tell you with the 7670m. I know I would try pushing one of the newer drivers (7670m only) using device manager. Create a restore point first. I'm assuming you have the OEM driver working right now?

The 12.6 and even 12.7 non-WHQL drivers can be found in the ATI drivers section of the Guru3D.com forum.

Do you know what I mean about pushing the driver with Device Manager?

At this point do not try to install anything through Catalyst Install Manager or update CCC or Intel graphics driver. Only try updating the 7670m through device manager and pointing to the extracted driver folder. You will not need to clean anything this way. Again, create a restore point first so you have a fall back option.

    I will try that

    Thanks

What is the main difference between WHQL and non-WHQL?

The betas and pre-release (leaked) don't have Windows certification (WHQL).

Have any of you had issues with half second lockups while gaming? It's real similar to a problem i had on my wife's old laptop with power management on the hard drive but i have an SSD so i know it's not that... My wife has the exact same laptop as me loaded with exact same drivers, etc and she doesn't have these problems as me. Only difference is the hard drive and i haven't had time to mess with that.
