It did on the other similar models (7738g, 8935G).
But any particular reason you want to go to 8?Sales@PowerNotebooks.com | Phone: (US) 877-711-1777 - CALL US FOR NOTEBOOKREVIEW ACTIVE MEMBER DISCOUNTS

Re: Acer Aspire 8735G 8 GB Ram ?
Because of video editing and video rendering. The Acer support tells me that 4 GB is the max., but when I bought the laptop on the website of the seller stood 8 GB is the max.. and I have seen a Acer Aspire 8735G sold on ebay with 8 GB ram.

Re: Acer Aspire 8735G 8 GB Ram ?
If I were you, I wold try to go for FASTER ram rather than MORE ram. however, if you need 8gb I think that chipset would support it. I have found that I only need 4 for most things. however my sager has 8gb and I will consistently use over 4.5gb... so go figure.
but if your bios limits you to 4gigs you're out of luck.
Edit* check out this spec page here... it will support 8 gigs if you run a x64 OS.Sager NP-8170 | Core i7 2720QM | NVIDIA GTX 680M 4GB GDDR5 | 8GB 1333MHz DDR3 | Bigfoot Networks Killer Wireless N | 500GB 7200RPM HDD | 72% NTSC GAMUT 1080P LED LCD | windows 7 ultimate | And my Microsoft intellimouse Explorer 3.0A

Re: Acer Aspire 8735G 8 GB Ram ?
The core 2 series only supports up to 1066mhz ram.

Re: Acer Aspire 8735G 8 GB Ram ?
Yes, it has the PM45 chipset and it does support 8 GB of RAM, whether it's DDR2 or DDR3. No need to go for faster RAM, 1066 MHz is the maximum the chipset will support, plus there's little difference between 1333 MHz and 1066 MHz RAM.
If I were you, I'd actually try installing 2x8 GB DDR3 DIMMs :-), but obviously, you gotta be able to return them if it doesn't work...

Re: Acer Aspire 8735G 8 GB Ram ?
Thanks.
@jotm
Do you have the 8735G ? And you mean 2x4 GB DDR3 DIMMs I think.
Edit: Which DDR3 DIMMs are the best ? Crucial,Kingston ?Last edited by Racer1; 20th April 2012 at 06:38 PM.

Re: Acer Aspire 8735G 8 GB Ram ?
No, I've got an Elitebook 8530w (with the same PM45 chipset, but DDR2 RAM), but I helped a friend install 8 GB of RAM and a new processor in his 8735G, so I know it works.
I did actually mean 2x8 GB DIMM's, for 16 GB total. I don't know if it would work, but the price is pretty low on these modules, and you'll be future-proofed for sure :-), especially if you plan on installing a Core 2 Quad later.
I've never come across bad RAM, so I don't know what to recommend. In my experience Hynix, Samsung and Elpida all work perfectly...

Re: Acer Aspire 8735G 8 GB Ram ?
I think 2x4 GB are enough for the beginning. Is a Core 2 Quad possible ?

Re: Acer Aspire 8735G 8 GB Ram ?
I don't see why it wouldn't work, unless Acer didn't include the microcode or blocked the C2Q for some reason, but of course it'd be nice to confirm before buying one. The cooling system is more than enough for a C2Q, and from what I've seen the motherboard can definitely provide the necessary power.
QX9200's (aka Q9200 - basically a predecessor to the QX9300 that never made it to production, but the QAVR and QAVS engineering samples work perfectly) are very cheap on eBay and they're real monsters compared to just about any C2D...
