Yeah, you'd have to test an actual chip to see if it works - I can't find anyone mentioning an upgrade to a quad core on the 8735G, sadly...

I've installed a T9800 + 2x4 GB DDR3 RAM on this laptop - works perfectly fine. Worst case scenario, you can get an X9100 or T9900 - those should work for sure, plus if you undervolt with Throttlestop, you definitely won't have any issues with heat or power consumption...

You'll have to update the BIOS to the latest version first, and get a good thermal paste, too (I recommend Arctic MX4).

Yes, that's the RAM, I got it locally for cheap (used) - the brand really doesn't matter, in my opinion. I haven't seen bad RAM since like 2000 - they're really reliable nowadays...

I ordered this RAM: CSX / Hynix 2x 4Gb 8 GB DDR-3 1066 Mhz 204pin Macbook Pro Imac 2009 Speicher 8GB 4053044069669 | eBay and it works great for the moment. I will test it, but I think it will work great.
