acer aspire 7730 gfx

hallo i have bought an acer aspire 7730 with a geforce 9600gt
its an mxm 2 slot
now i have an gt240 mxm 2 from my acer aspire 5920g witch works fine, now i put the gt240 in my new laptop and it boots show boot screen and windows starting but as soon it starts windows 7 there is just a blank screen, now why is that??

Uninstall the Nvidia drivers from the 7730 before plugging in the GT 240M. Then, reinstall them again after Windows picks up the new card.

ill try that tomorrow
i found out that the 7730 needs the copper shim to cool the card
just need to figure out if it is the same as in the 5920g or the other i recived
and i need some new thermal paste

what you said worked,
i used the copper shim from the acer aspire 5920g fits perfectly
and its even better at cooling the gfx, so now its an 7730 with a gt240m and an 5920g with a 9600gt

what cpu would you recomend,
what would it be able to handle,
it has an t9400 cpu

If you got the cash to spend, go for the x9000. I'm going to get one for my aspire 6920g, so if I beat you to it ill post the results and let everyone know how well it works.

The X9100 is a better choice if the motherboard supports a T9400.

Or, you may even try putting in a quad-core.

i was actually looking for the quad core on ebay but im not sure if it will boot with it,
i heard that the x9000 series gets hot, but thats just something i heard
maybe the quad core would get hot too

update, bought a quad core q9100, waiting to get it

so
gfx nvidia gt240m upgraded from nvidia 9600gt
4 gb ram ddr2 667 mhz, going to upgrade to 8 gb ddr2 800mhz
500gb hdd going to install second bay hdd

cpu t9400 going to install q9100 quad core

i did today and it does not seem to work
the latop powers on and the fan behaves wierd, and then it shuts down, and tries to start again and just sitting there

so i would love some ideas to get it to work :P

try to uninstall the driver for the previous cpu.
it work for me..
i upgrade fm t8100 to t9500.
successfully boot but always reboot on short of time..
try any method...last i try reinstall the cpu driver.
so far, it work for me..
