My aspire one laptop won't turn on after I took it apart. Still receives power. Helppp!

Okay, first of all I'm kind of a noob.

So I had to replace this part because my screen kept freezing after 30 seconds to a minute (while the rest of the computer continued on) and it was not the screen itself that was faulty because I put on a new one and it did the same thing.

So I bought this

New KAV60 LCD CABLE DATA P/N: DC02000SB50 ACER D250 - eBay (item 290587059938 end time Aug-12-11 11:03:22 PDT)

And I took my laptop apart and replaced it. Seemed pretty easy. However, now the laptop won't turn on at all. When I plug the charger in, the front left corner lights up so I know it has power but the on button doesn't work. Any ideas on what I could have screwed up when I took it apart to make this happen?

I'm kind of regretting trying to fix it instead of trying to buy a new one since I've already spent $80 on a new screen and this cord and now it won't turn on. Does anyone have any ideas??? Thanks so much.

How much of the base did you take apart if anything? I ask because it isnl't hard to brick a computer by shorting out something on the motherboard from something as easy as a static shock.

I know because I did it with a Toshiba laptop I own when I replaced the power input. After that it would not power on but still charged like you stated.

I'll stand aside as other more knowledgable folk express their opinions.

As this has occurred since you put in the new part. I'd put back the old part to see if it works with the original fault. As it could be a wrong or a faulty part. Best of luck.

It's possible the changing of the LCD cable was "detected" as a hardware change. You should try to reset the CMOS by either removing the battery and putting it back in, or if the battery is not removable, completing a circuit that bypasses the battery, in both cases causing the memory to be erased. Then reboot. Probably won't fix the issue, but it's just another idea.

None of that worked. Maybe I did brick it Any final things to try before I just give up and buy a new one?

I was hoping it was just something with the power button itself since it was on the top part and away from it's base for so long but I'm guessing it's not.

If your laptop is assembled, try the Crisis Recovery method( search google). If that doesn't work, I'm assuming you already took out the CMOS battery for a couple of minutes. What you want to do is to completely disassemble the laptop. With just the mb and the cpu fan ( nothing else), then plug in the the charge, and press the power button. If you still don't see the fan moving . It's a dead mb. If you have some doubt about the cpu fan you can test it alone with a 9v battery.

Open up again, check the switch board (the power button board) is connected properly
