Re: Official Acer Aspire 5739G Owner's Lounge
Damn, after reading for days now on this forum, I just couldnīt wait anymore and ordered a 6770m.
When all parts arrive and are hopefully working, Iīll have my 5739g running a T9900 / Ati 6770m / Crucial m4 128gb / 4gb Samsung Ram / self-built notebook cooler (still waiting for parts to arrive)
Also ordered these to keep the chipset a few °C cooler http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...BL._AA300_.jpg
http://www.mindfactory.de/product_in...L9-Single.html
These do work in the Aspire 5739g, arenīt they?Last edited by oohayrr; 2nd May 2012 at 05:26 AM.

Re: Official Acer Aspire 5739G Owner's Lounge
where did you order the 6770m?
ram should work.
does your cooling system change the portability of the laptop (do you have to cut something in order that cooling system fits?)Acer Aspire 5739G

Re: Official Acer Aspire 5739G Owner's Lounge
Iīve ordered the 6770m @ AliExpress - Buy directly from China for just 138$. I am aware of shipping taking up to 30 days O_o but I just couldnīt resist. Iīve read on this forum of several successful orders as well as some problems with returning shipments. But no risk no fun

The cooling system is more of an regular notebook cooler like this one http://www.casemouse.com/cooler/cool...-nbc-k3210.jpg . Itīs totally independent from the laptop itself but is still custom-built for an aspire 5739g (positions of fans etc.). It features 2x 120mm Corsair fans and continuously adjustable control for each fan. I also adress the issue of dust being blown into the system by installing several dust filters. As the openings of the laptop are not ideal for airflow I plan to keep the bottom off of the laptop when playing games etc. This shouldnīt be a problem as the cooler fits the notebook perfectly without any big openings anywhere. But Iīll see about that, when the real test comes in form of all the new parts
But I donīt want to upload pictures until itīs finished, bad luck etc

Re: Official Acer Aspire 5739G Owner's Lounge
What a surprise, my T9900 was delivered today! One week before ETA
Itīs already running Primestable @stock voltage and undervolted @1.0625V.
Max temps hwmonitor shows are 87°C @1.0625V, but hangs mostly around 84-85°C running Prime. Is this temperature ok?
As soon as I get home again, I will try gaming-temps.

Re: Official Acer Aspire 5739G Owner's Lounge
nice, you are having pretty much the same temps as me

(you are talking about THRM, do you?)
if so, temps are very well. Now without any mods, you wont get it cooler, so you actually have the best result that you can get atmAcer Aspire 5739G

Re: Official Acer Aspire 5739G Owner's Lounge
That's a good sign. And as the thermal paste has only broken in for about 4h it may be even cooler in a few days

I experienced some bluescreens when starting 3DMark06. Everything else worked fine (Prime, games etc) but just to make sure, I am reinstalling Win7 right now. If these bs still exist I don't really know what to do.
EDIT:
Games, Prim and 3DMark running fine now. But my 3DMark06 score is rather low:
Cpu&Gpu @ stock: 6303 - which only slightly above my score with P7450
Cpu @ stock/Gpu @ 650/900/1350: 7055 (compared to 6630 with P7450.Last edited by oohayrr; 3rd May 2012 at 03:55 PM.

Re: Official Acer Aspire 5739G Owner's Lounge
dont overestimate the whole thing. You still own a Core2Duo System and not Core i, you will get a certain boost, but your system wont perform like a brand new-gen laptop. This is also the reason why I decided not to buy a HD6770M, it may boost things alot, but its not gonna "kick-" like if you buy a brand new laptop.
Getting a T9900 for a P7450 will boost up CPU-heavy tasks, but in gaming (or generally for overall performance) there are only few changes.
oh, wow, i just got 8250p @3dmark06 at my specs...maybe with a 6770m it can reach 9,5-10k or so...Acer Aspire 5739G

Re: Official Acer Aspire 5739G Owner's Lounge
Ok, understood. Main thing for me is that Diablo3 is running smoothly, which Iīll find out May 15th
How the hell can you get more than 1k points more @ 3DMark06 than me? Any ideas?
EIDT: I think I found the cause. Are you running 3DMark06 on your laptop display or on a second monitor? I didnīt even think of that, because Iīm always using my 26" monitor. But when running 3DMark06 on my laptop only without the other monitor, it reaches 8230 points
As I said, I couldnīt resist either when I saw the price

Re: Official Acer Aspire 5739G Owner's Lounge
Hi guys. I just got a 5739g, installed a P8700 and a HD6770m. Everything went well, Arctic Silver 5 was applied and all appeared well.
Since putting Windows 7 on it, I soon discovered the fan will not respond properly, it works fine until I load the CPU up with Prime95 for example. Then the fan mysteriously stops. HWmonitor also shows that the Motherboard temp drops from 40-50 degrees c to anywhere from 0-20 degrees.
The fan will then do a super fast on and off, as in revving up and shutting off again for a couple seconds. This means the temps go through the roof and I shut prime down near 80 degrees.
I thought I would force the fan on with the GPU BIOS but seems that it wasn't wanting to flash correctly, so bottled it. I have also tried SpeedFan, but nothing appears to force the fan on when I want. Would prefer not to pull a cable to force it on, but if thats what it takes, I'd consider it.
Just to be clear the GPU is fine, and Furmark will push it to an expected 80 degrees, on standard settings. The CPU will sit average at 35-40 degrees. But as I want to play a few games with this I want to know that the fan will work properly. Apologies for the long post. Want to give as much info as I can.
