Re: Acer Ethos AS8951G/AS5951G Owners Lounge
Have anybody tried to regulate the FAN?
I tried ACFANCONTROL, but could not find the FanControlByte register.
Anyway, BIOS ControlByte register is at 0x55 (85). When you rewrite it to desired value (0 = low speed, 5 = max speed), then the fan will automatically revert to the previous speed. Do somebody know how to override this and get automatic speed regulation? However if you set the desired value and quickly disable FANCONTROL (f.e. setting value to 6), the fan will remain at the selected speed.
Bottom line: there is a possible way to manually control fan speed, but without knowing FanControlByte register, it is not possible to set automatic user temperature-speed curve
And one more thing - if you want to completely silence the fan and can not set the value to 0, try to let the CPU cool down, set the automatic regulation (which will probably remain at speed 1) and then set register 0x4E to 114 or 98 (depending on actual value, set the opposite).
Thanks for any information leading to successful automatic user-defined fan speed regulation.

Re: Acer Ethos AS8951G/AS5951G Owners Lounge
Hi
I own a 8951G. Has anyone tried installing WIN8 on this machine and managed to get Intel WIDI working? I have upgraded to WIN 8 Pro and the WIDI which was pre-installed and working on WIN7 is not working anymore. I am not even able to install the software from Intel as I get a "platform not supported error".
Can someone help with this?
