re: Acer MXM BIOS Mods and discussion (was: x920G vs. 9600M GT)
Thanks for the success report! Still not exactly a 9600M GT, but we are getting close.
If you are brave enough, you may try flashing a 9600M GT VBIOS into your GS, just to be extra sure, but I take no responsibility for that. :-) Not sure if that is even possible.

re: Acer MXM BIOS Mods and discussion (was: x920G vs. 9600M GT)
I have tried a 9600M GT DDR2 bios in the past, works fine.
I see no reason why a 9600M GT DDR3 would not work, 2 cards (9500/9600m gs) which did not even post work flawless after this mod.
Hell i even tried a mxm he card and it worked

mookill: Which BIOS did you use?
EDIT: Also, please post the video BIOS of your card. I need to see how it is calling the MXM interrupt.

just updated my bios with the one you modded,
acer aspire 5920g, and the bios works, it has another silent boot screen, my original was white with some green acer logo, this one has a black background instead, but i do not have a video card to test with
so if anyone is in denmark and are ready to lent out their card ill try it out

I'll probably buy a 9600M GT from niffcreature, to test. If we make a deal and I end up with a card, I'll let you know, if someone else doesn't do it before me

If you do buy one, be sure to note which version (A1 or C1) and memory type (DDR2 or GDDR3 - AFAIK no other types exist for the GeForce 9000 series) you get.

re: Acer MXM BIOS Mods and discussion (was: x920G vs. 9600M GT)
Weird, this BIOS seems to be calling the MXM interrupt correctly.
Also, just verified using Phoenix BIOS Editor, the BIOS @ http://ifile.it/hg96pvw/V116_SLIC_MXM.ROM does contain the right MXM structure.
Do you see amy boot output if you plug in an external display?
Also, does a non-9600M GT card boot fine on your system?
If you can, please also try a different VGA BIOS.
