Re: Acer TimelineX 3830/4830/5830 T/G
dang it
just when I wanted to get a 3820TG at the end of the month for my birthday
a more powerful SB based CPU would help me in Solidworks do you reckon?
should I get the current Arrandsdale based 3820TG at the end of the month or when the SB refresh comes?

Re: Acer TimelineX 3830/4830/5830 T/G
I would like a 900p screen option. On the 13" MBA it is really nice.
I'll be getting a 6650 model with i7-2720QM. Hopefully 13" but 14" is OK.
I have high hope for the 6650! Hopefully it will come with 8 GB RAM and a 128 GB SSD.
The 17" Ethos is the only Ethos model that I have played with. It was awesome.
Thanks OP. I am quite pumped!VAIO S15 w/ modded 640m LE @ 1000/1000, Samsung 840 Pro

Re: Acer TimelineX 3830/4830/5830 T/G
An i7-2720QM with Radeon 6650 with switchable graphics? Can I hope for this combination?
I can't imagine Acer putting a quad core and dedicated graphics into a 13'', so I'm going to put my hope on the 14'' or 15''.

Re: Acer TimelineX 3830/4830/5830 T/G
Oh no! It's all standard voltage CPUs! Would a LV helped in battery life in low-usage scenarios? Or maybe even an ULV?
Can't wait till it comes out!Currently: Acer 1410
Wanting: U300/ U300s / E220s / 13" Trinity! (yes it will keep on changing

Re: Acer TimelineX 3830/4830/5830 T/G
crunching performance will be better but not terribly different.
systems with dedicated cards like the 6550 won't even bother with the improvement in integrated graphics in Sandy Bridge.
unless you getting one without an ATi card, the USB3.0 as the only main selling point to hold off a purchase and wait for these to come.
who knows wheeeen they will be coming anyway and in what config right?
not to mention the Intel issue with their chipset recall is sure going to delay this. their fixed chipsets are going to ship only at end of Feb.Acer TimelineX 3820TG-5484G75 (12/2010) -- Core i5-460M / ATi HD 5650

Re: Acer TimelineX 3830/4830/5830 T/G
Suddenly I feel that my AS3820TG-7945 for $600 tax included was a very good deal. Only thing I hate is that the HD5470 is so weak!

Re: Acer TimelineX 3830/4830/5830 T/G
You could've also gotten the new ones with a 6550 for ~ $200 more if you're in Canada.
