Maybe because of the amount of success the 3820tg has seen, retailers will release its sandy bro earlier?
Agreed, once you get so many hours (8+) you're pretty much good to go...This thing should be more powerful than my Q6600 Desktop and still have 9+ hours battery life. I'm so looking forward to this.Last edited by Deltido; 27th February 2011 at 06:11 PM.

Re: Acer TimelineX 3830/4830/5830 T/G
Isn't the rediculous 9.5 hour battery life partially due to the non-removable battery? For me it's a great addition as I never buy extra batteries. And here I was thinking that I had to compromise with battery life coming from my ul80vt

Edit: sorry about the double posts Mod, if I weren't on my cellphone posting I may have noticed it.

Re: Acer TimelineX 3830/4830/5830 T/G
I think the longer battery duration is due primarily to the SB's amazing draw. Lenovo us claiming 15 hours per charge.
With my 2 6 cells, I can keep my 3820TG running for 12 hours. 9 is a step down for those of us who use the acer as a mobile office. I won't be trading in my unit just yet.

You can't just look at the mAh, you have to know the voltage as well.
The only figure you can directly compare are the Whrs.
Eg 10.8v 4400mah vs 14.8v 4800mah.
The 14.8v battery actually holds 50% more energy.Sales@PowerNotebooks.com | Phone: (US) 877-711-1777 - CALL US FOR NOTEBOOKREVIEW ACTIVE MEMBER DISCOUNTS

Re: Acer TimelineX 3830/4830/5830 T/G
I keep (and use) my laptops for a long time. So if I can't replace the battery then I won't by the laptop.
My current laptops are 8 years (T40) and 10 years (Acer C100) old. I had a newer one but it died.
Part of the reason to get bleeding edge CPU/GPU is so that it can be usable a long time. Batteries die after 300 cycles...

Re: Acer TimelineX 3830/4830/5830 T/G
I'm torn. I think I'll probably go for an X220 since SB graphics are probably all I need. But I'm tempted by the 14" crowd (4830TG, 460p, e420s.)
I'm bummed all of the SB's are 16X9. that is a huge adjustment coming from a 4X3. and I don't understand why anyone would want so little vertical real estate on a small screen.
But using the T40 with discrete graphics (3DMark=1200) has taught me that having better graphics can make for a much longer lasting laptop. Given how powerful even integrated graphics have become- expect all software and OS's in the coming years to really be graphically demanding. I worry that the HD3000 in 4 years won't cut it.
Of course I realize 95% of laptop users plan on much more regular upgrades...
